The new biggest worm! With a Dr Pepper and a doorway for scale

The worm is made of a blanket and filled with batting scraps and fabric scraps so it’s surprisingly dense for a stuffed animal. A nice weight to wear draped over your arms like a feather boa. All in all 10/10 would make another giant worm

One of the things I enjoy about reading old science fiction is seeing how far back certain ideas go in the genre. This story about a large worm-like creature that can burrow under the ground to pop up and eat you was published in Amazing Stories just over 95 years ago.

David H. Keller, M.D. was one of the oddest of the early science fiction writers, writing things like Revolt of the Pedestrians, in which, due to evolution in the future, the legs of car drivers have atrophied to uselessness but have almost indestructible cars and so regularly run over people who still walk, "don't worry dear" says a dad to his kid after plowing through three pedestrians "they don't feel pain like humans." and The Menace a racist novel even for that time in which mad scientists from Africa attack Americans with fake gold, madness-inducing chemicals in the water and gas that turns white folks black.
