What size boots?
@giantcowboy
Hanzo needed time away from cities; the sounds and smells had been grating on his senses lately. So it was that he found himself wandering the remote countryside, through a place with not even a shack for miles and no visible path to follow. The cool breeze and overcast sky brought a slight half-smile to Hanzo’s face, and he paused, resting a hand on a nearby surface to take in the view around him. It felt refreshing somehow, to feel the wind over the buzzed sides of his undercut. A reminder of his efforts to move forward.
He was distracted from his thoughts when he realized the surface under his hand was not an unusual rock formation like he’d thought. Rather, it was...leather. Hanzo stepped back a little, and he realized it didn’t just look like a boot, it was a boot. He hesitated at first, then curiosity won out and he rapped his knuckles against the leather. Maybe it was some kind of installation art piece?
Are you real?

Hugo was a broken man, in just about every sense, there on his back in Old Haven. Something woke him up -- mercilessly, just let me sleep -- after who knows how long, at what was the crux of either sunrise or sunset.
He felt too much, and too little, both where it mattered most.
The rumbling of the ground must have done it. Not the steady rumble of a vehicle, but something rhythmic. Like steps of something large and heavy. Maybe it was a rakk hive. Wouldn’t that be quaint?
Hugo stared up at the sky passively. Immobile. Waiting. The rumbling sound grew closer, closer still, and then --
High above, lit by a low sun, he thought he saw the face of God. God has a beard too, Hugo thought dumbly. He’ll understand.
“Hey,” Hugo rasped, too parched and weak to sound above a whisper.
(giant-cowboy): "Alright, come out with yer hands up!"
“Tch.” River huffed, sinking behind the building with his prize. Like hell he was giving it up to whomever this was! Instead, he ducked out, his own pistol in hand.
“Hell no, you put YOUR hands u-...”
