Plant of the Day
Sunday 25 August 2019
In the far north of Scotland at The Castle of Mey, Thurso, the Primula florindae (Tibetan cowslip, giant cowslip) were flowering in the walled garden. This clump-forming herbaceous perennial produces plants with nodding, fragrant bright yellow flowers which thrive in moist soil and are ideal for planting along the edges of streams. There was no stream here but they receive plenty of rain with cool temperatures.
