I am a huge nerd and also very fond of and very proud of this project. Months ago @k8stack and I looked at each other and had a thought: Wouldn’t it be nice to get to play DND outside? Wouldn’t it be extra fun to play DND with giant lawn dice? Does such a thing exist? It turns out that no, such a thing did not exist, so we started a project that turned into a monster. @julespeiperl came in to help us paint the lapis lazuli inspired set, while @k8stack stuck with granite and I went jade. There are 248 individual sides of dice here, three full sets (+1 D6 per set) and one giant D20, because when you’re making giant dice you have to make one really giant die. Our test run with our dnd group was such a blast! @dtmckell @joshua.john.nyc @ghouliani @bahecksher @k8stack @julespeiperl you guys are just the best party a girl could ever dream of. It turns out that it is in fact super fun to cast spells that need 10D6 when you get to chuck 6D6 all at once as a result. I can’t believe I get to play every week with you guys and I can’t wait to play again. You might have seen these in progress and here is the finished product installed. Made from salvaged wood glued and sanded. Each standing 15 inches (30 together). A couple things you might not know about dice: it may sound morbid but if your talking about just one it’s “die” although web sources say dice is used for singular and plural in modern English. The dots on dice and dominos are called “pips”, and the total number of pips on two opposing sides of a 6 sided die are equal to 7. Fun fact.
