Who is Heal the Bay' animal of the year? (Drum roll) 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁 Its the Giant Sea Bass! (Stereolepis gigas). The giant seabass or GSB for short, is an amazing animal and the king of the kelp forest. Growing up to 700 pounds and over 7 feet long, this animal is the same size as a small hatchback car! Due to overfishing in the 1950's this unique fish was almost depleted by overfishing,but since then with conservation regulations we are now seeing a comeback of large adult GSBs in MPA's and kelp forests.
