@gideon-ia Some love struck student or staff was going around and throwing some ceremonial flora on the door frames of the academy. Gideon himself had seen a wandering sprite fly upwards and pin something above his door. How odd that a simple type of plant could cause love struck students to finally confess their love to their significant others. He found out what mistletoe was the hard way when he was trying to enter the cafeteria and there was about three different kissing groups under a large spread of it. He, himself, wouldn’t mind…enjoying the festivities. Except, the only person he could truly find acceptable was an untouchable, someone of higher standards and very…very..beautiful. “Nurse Gideon, I cut my finger while wrapping presents…”
The nurse felt his skin blanch paler then ever and then grow exceedingly red. Standing in his doorway was none other then the person of thought for that occasion. “Miss Jieun,” he said quietly in response. My, she was beautiful. His knees felt weak as he stood to retrieve the antibiotic ointment and band aid. He could feel his own will to follow the student/staff rules slipping away with each step closer. “You must be more careful, I’m sure the people you give presents to are as lucky as can be to receive your love. However I’m quite positive they do not want blood on their wrapping paper.” He took her pale, gloved hand and removed the silk to bandage the wound. And once he was done, he leaned down and kissed her hand. “There, a finally touch to ensure it’s healing,” he joked, looking up and meeting her eyes. The halls outside smelt of cinnamon and fir trees. And she, she smelt of all the winter scents combined; of holly and…and mistletoe.
Leaning in, he brushed his lips gently against her own, breathing her in with an explosion of fireworks in his mind. The spark flew like buzzing bees and his eyes shot open and her hand dropped from his grasp. “I-…I….I’m sorry. Please forgive me. I..I hope your finger feels better in a short amount of time. Enjoy the festivities, Miss.” And with that, he turned on his heels and shot back to his desk, covering his mouth.
While there were many problems with having thin skin one of the worst was how easy it was to break the skin. Rough fabric, sharp corners, even paper could be the enemy as she had just learned. Her glove had been removed on one hand to make wrapping the various presents around her a bit easier and all had been going smoothly until a particularly sharp piece of foiled paper sliced across the length of her index finger leaving her with a blood weeping wound. With a hiss of pain and a frown she clutched the wound as she rose to her feet.
It had become her thing to appear at the nurses office with even the most minor of injuries. She liked to think it gave him something to do and it also let her see that gorgeous smile of his and play the ‘how many times can I make him blush’ game.
It would seem her game started early for when he approached already the tell-tale blush was upon his cheeks bringing a smile to her lips. “I don’t wish to bleed on the paper either, it was expensive but it looks so pretty when wrapped with all the ribbons and things.” He was at the moment the only one she had allowed to view the disgrace that were her hands and the fact they didn’t make him cringe often surprised her. The kiss upon them made her laugh softly, he was so strange sometimes, but nothing would prepare her for his lips brushing hers almost to briefly to be real. And suddenly gone was the familiarity and here was the Gideon she was used to all business and polite manners but oh no, he had kissed her and she was going to remember it forever.
The slow grin that slid across her face would surely remain there for hours as she remained in his doorway staring across the room at him. A familiar tune played upon her lips as she began softly humming ‘I saw mommy kissing santa clause’ before stopping and leaning against the door. “I guess Santa does exist, I’ll have to confirm with Zoe that one of my wishes came true.”
