i honestly love all the parallels between phitam and gaogienhudee, and not just because im a sucker for parallels in and of themselves, but because the writers actually use them in a very smart way
the circumstances are obviously different, and so is the weight of their actions when it comes to their respective relationship, but gie and tam start the series in a similar situation: they both left with no explanation, and now that they're back the person they love resents them for it (and in phi's case, rightfully so)
but if the writers can't let tam reveal his cards quite yet, since that's the biggest mystery and source of tension in the show, they don't have the same problem with gie, and so through her we get to understand tam as well
gie left because what she wanted was too different from what yong wanted, and even if she tried to go along with his dream at first, ultimately she knew she had to step back for both of their happiness, as getting married would have just made them miserable in the long run. similarly, tam always supported phi in his dream of becoming a reporter, but we hardly know anything about tam's own dreams, and since he ended up becoming a producer, maybe what he wanted had always been different
should have gie just told nuhdee the reason why she left her brother? should have tam just sat phi down and talked to him about wanting to follow a different path? absolutely. but here's the thing: sometimes we don't want to hurt the people we love with the truth, and while trying to prevent that from happening, we end up hurting them in a different way; sometimes we don't want to ruin the image the people we love have of us, and while trying to prevent that from happening, we end up making them resent us
thankfully, forgiving someone is easier than giving them a second chance, and since phi is ready to give that to tam, whenever the truth comes out we already know phi's gonna forgive him
