Venus Effect is quickly becoming one of my favorite nouveau grunge bands. Take it Easy, the follow up to singles Into the Fire and It Would Be You continues its Nirvana-esque 90’s sound, polishing it up and making it shiny and new again.

Alternative rock vocals diametrically opposed to the upper register, playful guitar riffs make for the vigorous mélange of sound of Goodbye Nola. These spritely guitar riffs akin to Two Door Cinema Club; but that is where the similarity ends. Mixing up the vocals between band members keeps things fresh and gives it an American hard rock edge.

The first few youthful notes of Flamin Rum at once reminded me of The Kooks. My complacency in that comparison shot to hell as the mature vocals akin to Soundgarden exploded on the scene, taking the guitar, bass, and drum along for the ride.
