★ copper gold ➝ minji / sungmi
she was in too deep before she even had the chance to get a firm hold on the surface.
one could see that wheels were running inside of minji’s head, not entirely focused on studying. it had been a week since her move and she found herself settled in quite nicely. the siren had very little belongings, choosing not to cling onto items with sentimental value. she wasn’t really one to hold on to anything for too long other than the shark tooth that hung in between her breasts at the moment. and a few other exceptions. letters, pictures and gifts she received from solely one person.
woo sunmi was someone she didn’t expect to matter to her. the fact that they had met through odd circumstances leading to shared “i like you’s” and kisses under the rain, still frightened her. mainly because she wasn’t human enough for it. she was a siren. she lured men and feasted on their flesh to live. she wasn’t supposed to be sending love letters and aching to be with a human girl, wasn’t supposed to feel pity or empathy towards the young race. it wasn’t how things worked. and if sungmi truly knew who and what she was, will she be able to accept her? it was that question alone that confirmed everything.
but the longer minji stayed on land, the longer she felt that she could maybe, just maybe, be human enough for sunmi.
she knew better than this, which was why she hadn’t told her girlfriend that she had already moved to the city. and she knew that it had to stay this way. the closer they are, the more her urge to meet her again after all this time, surfaced.
a part of her wished that the war would pass before her self control slipped so she and her sister could return and leave everything behind them.
all of these thoughts and more ran through her mind throughout class, distracting her. when the bell rang, she collected her books and stuffed them carelessly inside her bag. minji cursed in her head because she didn’t pay attention again. her professor and her will have another talk soon and she hated those talks. she hated men. ready to set off without being pulled in a group conversation, she looked up to see one of the girls that she had made out with two nights before. minji remembered. her scent was familiar. it seemed that she remembered her too. what a coincidence that they were in the same class. the girl leaned in and whispered something in her ear and an idea clicked inside minji’s head.
