gilberto had never been good at hiding when he liked someone.
his teammates noticed it immediately.
every time you showed up to watch training, his posture straightened. every time you laughed, he smiled without even realizing it. and whenever you congratulated him after a match, he spent the rest of the day replaying the conversation in his head.
"just talk to her," one of his teammates groaned.
"i do talk to her."
"two sentences doesn't count."
gilberto rolled his eyes and kicked a ball toward the goal.
the truth was that talking to you was easy.
it was everything else that wasn't.
the way his heart sped up when you sat beside him. the way he suddenly forgot what he was about to say whenever you smiled at him. the way he found himself searching for you in every crowd.
after one of his matches, you waited near the tunnel like always.
he jogged over, slightly out of breath.
"you played really well today."
"you think so?"
you laughed. "gilberto, you scored."
"right. good point."
his awkward answer made you smile even wider.
for a moment, neither of you said anything.
then you held out a small bracelet made from blue and red thread.
"i made this for you."
gilberto stared at it.
"for me?"
you nodded nervously.
his face immediately softened.
without hesitation, he slipped it onto his wrist.
"i'm never taking this off."
your cheeks warmed.
"you don't have to wear it all the time."
"yes, i do."
you both laughed.
and as you walked beside him toward the parking lot, shoulders brushing together every few steps, gilberto thought that maybe his teammates were right.
This is inspired by the song Wife You Up by Russ which you can hear right here
There was a time before the MC and before adulthood had actually hit Gilly where he worked at a mall in his hometown of San Diego, California. Among those times and the present, there was always a constant and that was you. You had met at the mall and you were the one that showed him around the store that you guys worked at since he was the newbie at the job so as soon as lunch had come around, the two of you walked to the food court and continued to talk and hit it off and quickly became more than just coworkers and friends. The young love that had blossomed and felt like much more than young love had been cut short as Gilly had wanted to move to Santo Padre and be a part of the MC there and you wanted to go to college and become a lawyer for the people that couldn’t afford a fancy lawyer.
As time passed, the both of you had talked about each other to your closest friends. Gilly to Angel and Coco and you to yours. The both of you thought of the other as the one that got away. There was something about you to him that made you the only person in the world to him, from you supporting him through every decision he has made to even going out of your way to make sure he had everything and taken care of everything.
Years later, the two of you still drifted your minds to each other, wondering if the other had a significant other and kids like they talked about. It wasn’t until you had an opportunity to move to Santo Padre and work for the law firm there so you quickly agreed and moved as fast as you could. It took a couple weeks until you were fully settled into your new house and environment and didn’t have to go to work until the next week so you decided to go to the only carniceria to pick up stuff for dinner since you were wanting something to do with steak.
When you were about to go up to the door, you saw a glimpse of a Harley in the front and you immediately thought of the big bear that had first captured your heart. It seemed like only a second while you were staring at the motorcycle only for it to be five minutes of you staring until a throat cleared next to you. You jumped and turned to the source of the noise, seeing a cute tall slim man with a beard.
“See something you like, querida?” Angel smirked.
“Oh! Is this your bike? Sorry for staring too long, just reminds me of somebody,” you smiled with a red cheeks.
“This one isn’t mine. Mine is right,” he pointed at the one two spots away, “there. This one is my brother’s,”
“Oh,” you softly smiled, “that’s cool. Well, I gotta go pick up some meat for dinner. See you later, I guess,”
You turned and entered the carniceria and smiled at the older man behind the counter before ordering while Angel quickly pulled Gilly back to his bike after he exited the panaderia with a concha.
“What?” Gilly asked after taking a bite of the concha.
“Dude, this chick just checked out your bike. She was hot with these curved like no other,” Angel gripped his chest.
Gilly rolled his eyes until the door of the carniceria opened and you came into his view as his jaw dropped, “(Y/N)?”
You turned and saw the familiar face that you had first loved, mabe even still do, “Gilly? Oh, my God! How are you? It’s been, what, years now?!” you quickly set down your meat and wrapped your arms around his neck for a hug before pulling away, “wait, do I have to worry about an angry wife or girlfriend that might beat me up?”
Gilly laughed, “Nah. Do I got a angry boyfriend or husband to worry about?”
“Boy, no,” you rolled your eyes with a laugh, “been single for a while, unfortunately,”
“Wait, this is the (Y/N)??” the man that stopped you outside asked, “well, shit, I didn’t think you existed. I’m Angel,” Angel reached his hand out for a handshake that you gladly shook, “well, mano. I gotta go to the yard, I’ll see you later,”
Gilly nodded before turning to you, “what are you doing here? Didn’t you go to school to become a lawyer?”
“Yes, sir. I got a job out here that offered and I immediately took it. Assuming you made it to the MC with the kutte. I’m proud of you, bear,” you smiled.
“Hey, ummm, do you wanna go on a date? You know, catch up and all that,” Gilly smiled.
“Yeah! Pull through at my place, I’ll make dinner and we can watch movies or something,” You grabbed a spare pen that you always tended to carry around just in case to write on his forearm, “this is my address so come at 7,” you gathered up all your courage and kissed his cheek before grabbing your meat that you ordered and rushed to your car to go home.
Fast forward, you guys have been dating for 4 months before Gilly had taken you to meet the MC that he considered his family since he already met your family and they loved him since the beginning. The moment you walked through the door, everybody had come up to you and made you feel welcomed with smiles and questions on how you met and how you could stay with the person. Unfortunately, Vicki’s girls were there so whenever you left to get something some would flock to Gilly, but he would wave them off and wait for you. Girls would give you glares and think that you were barely there and managed to get one of them.
“You know, he’s gonna leave you so he can mess with us,” one of them came up to you.
You chuckled, “girl, do you know our story? We’ve known each other way before the MC and way before you guys. I been there through it all so you can think what you want, but I’m not here for that,” you walked back to Gilly and sat on his lap giving him a huge kiss on the lips, laying your arm around his shoulders.
“Saw you talking to them. I’m glad to see that you can stick up for me and you to these sucias,” Gilly winked, resting his hand on your thigh, “I love you,”
“Forever and always,” you laughed as you brought the cheesiest thing that the two of you ever did when you were young.

gilberto had no idea buying flowers could be this stressful.
he'd been standing in front of the flower display for nearly twenty minutes, hands shoved into the pockets of his hoodie while staring at bouquets as if they were about to give him the answers.
"are these... too much?" he muttered to himself, picking up a bouquet of bright red roses.
he immediately put them back.
too serious.
too much pressure.
then he reached for white lilies.
"...wait."
weren't those for funerals?
he quickly returned them before anyone noticed.
a small laugh made him glance toward the florist arranging flowers nearby.
"first time buying flowers?" she asked with a knowing smile.
his ears turned pink.
"...is it that obvious?"
"a little."
he rubbed the back of his neck.
"i've never... bought flowers for anyone before."
"girlfriend?"
his shy smile answered before he could.
"she's gonna love whatever you choose."
"what if she doesn't?"
the florist chuckled.
"trust me. if she's the right girl, she won't remember the flowers."
he frowned slightly.
"she'll remember that you thought of her."
those words stuck with him.
instead of searching for the fanciest bouquet, he picked one that reminded him of you.
soft pink roses because they matched the blush that always spread across your cheeks whenever he complimented you.
little white daisies because they were cheerful, just like your laugh.
and tiny sprigs of baby's breath because they filled every empty space, the same way you somehow filled every quiet moment of his life.
he smiled.
"...these."
the florist wrapped them carefully with cream-colored paper and tied everything together with a pale ribbon.
gilberto held the bouquet like it was the most fragile thing in the world.
his palms were sweating the entire walk to your house.
what if you thought it was weird?
what if flowers were too old-fashioned?
what if, the front door opened before he even knocked.
you blinked in surprise.
"gili?"
he froze.
every word he'd practiced disappeared.
"...hi."
"hi?" you laughed softly. "what are you doing here?"
he looked down at the bouquet before holding it out with shaky hands.
"these are... for you."
you stared.
"...for me?"
he nodded once.
"i, um..."
his face burned.
"i saw them and... they reminded me of you."
you accepted the bouquet carefully, your fingertips brushing his.
your eyes immediately softened as you looked over every flower.
"they're beautiful."
his shoulders relaxed just a little.
"really?"
"really."
you lifted them closer, smiling as you admired the pink roses tucked between the daisies.
"i've never had anyone buy me flowers before."
his heart skipped.
"...you haven't?"
you shook your head.
"never."
for a second, neither of you spoke.
then you looked back up at him with the brightest smile he'd ever seen.
"thank you."
before he could answer, you stepped closer and wrapped your arms around him.
he stiffened in surprise for exactly one second before hugging you back.
carefully.
making sure not to crush the flowers between you.
you pulled away just enough to grin.
"you know..."
"hmm?"
"i think i like the person who gave them to me even more."
his cheeks somehow turned an even deeper shade of red.
"...don't say things like that."
"why not?"
"because..."
he hid his face in the sleeve of his hoodie.
"...you make me nervous."
you giggled.
"good."
he peeked at you over the fabric.
"good?"
"because it's cute."
he groaned quietly while you laughed.
you reached over, gently taking his hand into yours.
"come inside?"
he intertwined his fingers with yours almost instantly.
"...okay."
as you walked inside together, the bouquet rested safely in your other hand.
years later, long after those flowers had dried and faded, you'd still remember them.
not because they were the prettiest bouquet you'd ever received, but because they came from a boy who had spent twenty minutes trying to find flowers worthy of the girl he loved.

"you know," gilberto says, spinning his pencil between his fingers, "i think we've been staring at the same page for ten minutes."
you glance down at your notebook.
he's right.
the same math problem has been sitting unfinished while your highlighter rests untouched beside it.
"...i was thinking."
"about the homework?"
"...no."
he grins, already knowing the answer before you even say it.
"i was thinking about how cute you look when you're trying to concentrate."
you roll your eyes dramatically, reaching over to lightly push his shoulder.
"you're the reason i can't concentrate."
"me?" he places a hand over his chest like you've deeply offended him. "i've been the perfect study partner."
"gil."
"yes?"
"you've asked me if dinosaurs could play football."
"important question."
"you spent fifteen minutes trying to convince me penguins would make good goalkeepers."
"they're fearless."
"you drew a mustache on every person in your history textbook."
"...that one was funny."
you try not to smile.
you really do.
but the second he flashes that innocent look, the corners of your mouth betray you.
"see?" he says proudly. "i'm improving your mood."
"you're ruining my grades."
"small difference."
you sigh dramatically before closing your textbook.
"we've been here for almost two hours."
"mhm."
"and we've finished..."
gilberto reaches over to count the completed pages.
"...one."
"...one page."
"look at us being productive."
you laugh so hard you have to hide your face behind your hands.
"stop making me laugh!"
"i'm not doing anything."
he's lying.
his stupid smile is enough to make you laugh.
you finally reach for your notebook again.
"okay."
he nods seriously.
"okay."
"from now on—"
"no talking."
"exactly."
"only homework."
"yes."
"no distracting each other."
"right."
he holds out his pinky.
"deal?"
you hook yours around his.
"deal."
for almost forty seconds...
everything is quiet.
you answer two questions.
he actually writes notes.
it's going surprisingly well.
until, "babe."
you don't even look up.
"what?"
"...how many raccoons do you think it would take to beat one horse?"
your pencil stops moving.
slowly...
very slowly...
you lift your head to look at him.
he's trying so hard not to laugh.
"gilberto."
"it's hypothetical."
"i hate you."
"that's not an answer."
you burst into laughter, tossing one of your sticky notes at his forehead.
he catches it with an exaggerated gasp.
"assault."
"deserved."
he laughs along with you, the quiet library suddenly feeling much warmer.
once the laughter settles, he scoots his chair closer until your knees bump together beneath the table.
"okay," he says softly.
"this time i mean it."
"really?"
"really."
"...no raccoons?"
"...no raccoons."
"...no dinosaurs?"
"...not even one."
"...penguins?"
"...maybe one penguin."
you shake your head.
"hopeless."
"completely."
he reaches over, brushing a loose strand of hair behind your ear before stealing a quick kiss from your cheek.
"but i'm your hopeless."
your face immediately warms.
"that's cheating."
"what is?"
"being cute."
"works every time."
you groan, hiding your face in your notebook.
he chuckles quietly before opening his own book again.
"come on."
"let's actually finish."
"...and then?"
"then," he says, intertwining his fingers with yours beneath the table, "i'll buy you your favorite coffee."
"and?"
"and we'll pretend this was a successful study date."
you squeeze his hand.
"...i think it already was."
he smiles without looking away from his notebook.
"yeah."
"i think so too."
by the time the library announces it's closing, neither of you has finished all of your homework.
not even close.
your notebooks are filled with doodles instead of notes, the margins covered with little hearts, terrible stick figures, and inside jokes only the two of you understand.
you should probably feel guilty.
instead, as gilberto slips your backpack onto his shoulder before taking your hand in his, you can't help but think you'll happily fail at studying with him all over again.
(Y/N) Reyes. The little sister of Angel and EZ Reyes and the charter’s “mom.” You would make home cooked meals for everyone and helped the club in any way you could with anything that didn’t involve club business. It had come to the point that everyone pretty much called you mama. However, someone in the club didn’t see you like that. Johnny “Coco” Cruz had been mesmerized by you since the day he saw you in Angel and his place.
One day, you were setting up the family dinner at Taza’s place since he volunteered for his place so you had the table set as you waited for the food to finish cooking and the guys to arrive. After ten minutes, you only heard two bikes so you were confused since, usually, they all come together so you walked outside the house with your arms crossed.
Coco and Gilly mounted their bikes and proceeded their way to you, giving you a kiss on the cheek, “Hola, hermosa. The guys are coming soon,” Coco told you.
“Oh, it smells so good here, mama,” Gilly started his way to the hallway, “pero the bathroom is calling my name, I gotta shit,”
You shook your head as you pulled Coco to the kitchen to taste test the food. He was confused as to why you were pulling him until you pointed at the counter to gesture for him to sit. When he sat down you took the ladle and took a little of the sopa de pollo that you were making, blowing it before putting it up to his face. He stared at you as he drank the soup and you stared back, feeling the tension between the both of you.
As soon as you put the ladle down, Coco grabbed your hand and pulled you to stand in between his legs, placing his hands on your cheeks. You stared back at him with the occasional glance at his lips and he did the same to you. Finally inching closer, you couldn’t take it and took matters into your own hands and placed your lips on his, starting as an innocent kiss turned to something a little more hotter. However, the sound of Gilly’s heavy boots brought the both of you into reality and pulled apart, attempting to make it seem normal.
“Ooh, can I try some sopa de pollo?” Gilly rushed to the pot, grabbing a spoon from a drawer, and took a sip, “ahhh, that was good. Thank you, (Y/N/N),”

You were quite a shy person who usually spent your free days sitting in the coffee shop with your computer to work on stories that roam your head or a book to shove your face in. When you are in your element with a frappuccino next to you while working on stories or reading a book, your surroundings turn into a blur which leads to you not noticing the longing looks from a certain Mayan.
Gilly Lopez isn’t much of a coffee drinker, more so an energy drink drinker, but he started going to the coffee shop when he caught sight of you typing away in your computer. The day he saw you was the day he went with Coco and Angel to the store to grab something for Taza. He was waiting for them to come outside as he glanced around the area to find anything out of place when his eyes landed on you. His heart stopped at your natural beauty as you sat barefaced, no makeup and no skimpy clothes.
Ever since then, he went back to the same coffee shop for a week straight to see which days you came. When he determined the days you went, he started drinking coffee and trying to gain the courage to go up to you until Coco came to the same coffee shop with Letty. The father-daughter duo went up to the big guy and saw who he was staring at and that was when Letty the matchmaker came to play.
Letty knew you because you guys ran into each other in the market and it spurred into a friendship as she saw your innocence and shyness. It was an ironic friendship to say the least as Coco saw you as a breath of fresh air. The duo saw the two of you as a great match so Coco nodded at Letty to get you so she walked away to you as Gilly tried to stop her.
“Hey, (Y/N),” Letty sat down next to you.
“Hey, Letty,” you smiled at the girl you considered your best friend along with her dad, “what are you doing here?”
“I’m here with Coco and his friend, Gilly” Letty grabbed your hand, “C’mon, let me introduce you,”
You giggled as you let her pull you to the two men in similar kuttes. When you stood in front of them, you smiled warmly at both, “Hey, Coco and...Gilly?”
Gilly smiled and nodded, “w-what’s your name?”
“(Y/N),” you said as you blushed.
“Oh,” Letty exclaimed, “I forgot. Coco, you and I have to go to that one thing,”
Coco looked confused, “what are you-ohh, yeah! We have to go do this thing for this person. My bad, we gotta go,”
You chuckled at the failed attempt to leave, but you didn’t say anything as you were too enamoured by the man that stood before you. It seemed like the man was enamoured by you too as the both of you nodded and continued to smile shyly at each other.
“Hey, umm, do you want to...maybe...I don’t know...go on a date with me?” Gilly rubbed the back of his neck, “I mean you don’t have to, but-”
“I would love to,” you blushed as you looked down at your feet before turning and grabbing a pen you have, “here is my number-” you trailed off as you written your number on his forearm, “call me or text and we can figure it all out,”
Gilly nodded with a big smile before kissing your cheek as a sign of bye because his phone started ringing with Bishop’s name flashing. He walked out with an extra pep in his step as he mounted his bike and rode off with the smile never leaving his face.
