The question I always ask is: 'Where are all the women directors in America?' You know, where's the female Martin Scorsese, the female David Lynch?

Finished reading Little Women last night and noticed I kept on thinking of Gillian Armstrong’s 1994 adaption starring Winona Ryder as Jo March. It’s one of my favorite adaptations and I have to say I’m pretty disappointed with what I’ve seen from the new PBS version. None of the performances from the actresses playing the March daughters seem interesting or inspired. Maya Hawke’s Jo in particular feels so 21st century in her line delivery that I found it distracting. But maybe I should wait to see the full episodes... but honestly, I’m probably not going to. #littlewomen #gillianarmstrong #1994 #film #starring #winonaryder #christianbale #kirstendunst #trinialvarado #clairedanes #susansurandon #jomarch #classicliterature #louisamayalcott #whydidichoose #suchasomberscene #because #iwantedto #thatswhy https://www.instagram.com/p/Bisbu3gBmd7/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1l3rws84q4oc
