GIMP - How To Make Images Brighter
A short tutorial showcasing how to make your images a bit brighter using GIMP, a free photo editing software.
Making lines that have character in GIMP.
1.) Pick the paint brush and choose the size Hard Round brush to match the thickest part of the desired line.
2.) Click Brush Dynamics to get the set of boxes shown.
1. Uncheck Opacity.
2. Check Size
3. For most drawing leave these alone!
1. Pick the color that you want for your line
2. Choose the PATH tool
3. Using the normal methods of shaping a path, set up the line where you want it and curved however you wish.
1. When your line is ready, click Stroke Path.
2. That gets the Stroke Path dialog. The first time that it comes up it is in default mode with Stroke Line, 6 pixel wide, and solid color. Just click Stroke with Paint Tool. It defaults to Paint Brush, which we want.
3. Check Emulate Brush Dynamics.
Until you change them, these settings will remain until you close the program.
Then click Stroke.
You now have a line that resembles a brush stroke! It is easy to get rid of the visible path lurking there.
Just click ANY other tool and that path goes into the history and you are ready to hit Path and draw your next line. I like to use Rectangle Select because mistakes with it are really harmless and easy to undo.
You do not have to reset the brush unless you want to change the size of the line. You will not need to change the Path dialog, just click Stroke.
There are other tricks that you can do but this will get you started!
