A/N: Soooo I haven’t written anything in forever cause I’ve been really burnt out, but then an anon on @theunmappedstar pointed out that I wish you would by taylor swift is like Sophie to Keefe after unlocked, which I wholeheartedly agree with, and it also made me realize that how you get the girl would fit perfectly as a reunion between them, and was thrown into writing this. It’s super short, but it gave me an excuse to listen to taylor swift on repeat, so definitely worth my time.

Just when Sophie had completely given up on Keefe coming back, just when she’d stopped looking for him in every crowd, stopped using her spyball every chance she got, and stopped reassuring the others that he hadn’t really abandoned them, the doorbell rang.
And, in the way things always seem to work out, there stood Keefe Sencen, so pale he looked like a ghost, shaking in the rain. His normally perfectly mussed hair was plastered to his face with water, and his clothes were soaking wet.
“Are you insane?!” was the only thing that was able to come out of her mouth. After an eternity of crying and wondering and having to fight all of this alone, he had the nerve to show up at her door. And at the same time, she was so, so glad to see him there.
“It’s been a long six months, huh Foster?” Part of her wanted to tackle him into a hug right then and there, but the other part, the angry, hurt, broken part, held her back. He winced a little at her face, but took a step towards her. “I know I was wrong. I know I hurt you. But please hear me out here, because I’m finally not afraid to tell you what I want.”
She nodded, just the tiniest bit. He took that as his cue.
“Sophie, I,” He took a breath. “I want you, for worse or for better. I’d wait forever and ever if you asked me to. I know I broke your heart, but I’ll put it back together. I swear, I’d wait for you forever.”
“What?” She remembered the way it used to be. Before he left her and the world fell apart. The pictures he’d painstakingly drawn her, still in their frames in her room. The way he’d slung his arm across her shoulder, and how it was one of the only places she felt safe. The joking way he’d flirted with her, making her cheeks light up, that had maybe been more serious than she’d thought. All of the tiny gestures that he tried to use to tell her he loved her.
But did she love him too?
The answer came rushing to the front of her mind, as if it had been there, waiting, the whole time. Of course. Of course she loved this broken, beautiful boy.
“Keefe?”
He lifted his still perfectly ice blue eyes from the ground, staring right at her.
“I guess that’s how you get the girl.”
As she leaned in, the world melted away. I was him and her, her lips against his, and his warmth flooding into her. All either of them had ever wanted.
