Ok, so I just had this funny thought regarding the Starshard!Varian AU.
So we already know that Varian’s hair is strange because of his blue stripe. But I also noted that neither of his parents have black hair. Ulla is a redhead and Quirin has a dark brown (I know it might just be the shading, but I see it as brown).
So what if the Starshard didn’t just give him the blue stripe, but also made his hair black, to match the whole midnight sky mode when it sparkles up. And if Varian ever got separated from the Starshard, then it would show his real hair colour.
