The purple man lost.

It wasn’t a thing he was used to.

He’d been fully distracted. The weather was raging and thundering, and something had caught fire. He hated fire. He was startled.

He was scared.

And someone took advantage of that. He didn’t see who. At this point he didn’t care. It was humiliating. He wasn’t supposed to lose. He wasn’t supposed to be a disappointment.

He certainly didn’t bother to see if anyone was coming.

God, the pizzeria was dark.

Mistakes happen. Unfortunately for Mike, making a mistake meant, well, death. He drifted along, now just a pale blue figure in the darkness.

..Someone was joining him for the night shift tonight. Was that, Ginger?..

No, no no no, when she finds out what happened..

He didn’t want to put her through any more turmoil she didn’t deserve. Watching as she walked inside, he shook his head, and drifted into one of the other rooms.
