It’s not something that comes easy
when your born and raised on blood and blade -
that only iron and gunpowder keeps you alive
faith is better placed in a quick trigger finger,
luck or something like it.
when you’ve been down that road yourself,
fucked up and strung out on the kill,
someone else’s blood soaking into your pours
knowing what it is to be a killer
mercy and good faith in the person you were before is your only saving grace.
believing in the better natures of monsters
a hair’s breath away from monstrous.
to trust the same pleading, desperate look
you’ve seen in the mirror countless times.
It’s better to be weak than heartless
when the lines between the righteous and the damned are blurred.
