Teaser for my KHBB The Edge of Glory

(I’m not allowed to post any excerpts, so teaser photos are all you get.)

This is from chapter 2, titled “Another Shot” (because I’m totally doing what I did for my BABB fic that this one is a companion to and making all my chapter titles be lyrics from the titular song). #word nerd

I’m writing a sweet Klaine conversation and next up is a Furt one. Gonna have lotsa Furt in this story. I always wanted more brotherly Furt, so I’m going to make it happen. :)

Changing Tracks

Well, I signed up for the End of the World Bang...and then I backed out. I talked with my co-author and my beta and YES this story is still going to happen. It’s just not going to be part of the EOTWBang. We may join the crossover bang this winter, but the current one has a longer word count and things just were not coming together fast enough to meet the deadlines. Or we may just strike out solo and do it ourselves without a bang. (Anyone out there who would fancy doing art for a Glee/Firefly crossover story?!)

In the meantime, there’s another idea I’ve had percolating for a little while, and it started coming together in my head, and then I saw sign ups for the Kurt Hummel Big Bang...so I jumped in. It’s a shorter word count minimum, and I already have enough of the story together in my head that I know it won’t be hard to make it. This will be a companion story to the one I wrote for the Blaine Anderson Big Bang, only telling Kurt’s story during that same year (Blaine’s senior year and Kurt’s first year in NYC). Blaine’s story (if you haven’t read it) is “I Kissed a Girl.” Kurt’s story will be told in the same format, with lyrics from a song as chapter titles.

Kurt’s story will be called

“The Edge of Glory”

And now I’m going to go write!

Oh yeah, did I mention that I’m doing a story for the @endoftheworldbang? I was a little concerned about the required length but wowbright is awesome and she agreed to co-write with me. @redheadgleek is also awesome and she’s helping with beta/brainstorming. (Basically this is like my nerdy dream team folks.)

As usual, I won’t give away anything, but I’m definitely going to drop some teasers. We don’t start publishing until October, and I’m FOR SURE going to be too excited about this to stay completely quiet.

Summary: Once at a high school party Blaine Anderson kissed a girl...and he liked it. A short time later he kissed a boy, and he liked that too. He fell in love with that boy and they were happy together for almost two years.  But when that boy left for college they decided that it would be best to break up.  But being comfortable with his bisexuality may be the simplest part of Blaine's senior year, as he wades back into the world of dating, navigates new kinds of friendships, and tries to figure out what it means to become an adult. An alternate version of Blaine Anderson's senior year, incorporating many events from seasons 4 and 5a but making them...Blanier.

BABB writing update + teaser

I’ve been semi-blocked for a couple of weeks now on a particular scene in my Blaine Anderson Big Bang story. I knew I wanted Blaine to sing a song because that seemed right for the character in that moment...but I was really struggling to think of a song that would work. I was able to decide that I wanted a “crooner” sort of song, but was still struggling to pin down one with lyrics that suited the situation...and then I remembered this medley. I won’t tell you which song I used, but listening to Darren sing classic Sinatra was definitely inspirational tonight. :)

I actually don’t even like this type of music very much. But it was just so RIGHT for this scene.

(In other news, the story is 10k words as of tonight. And still something less than halfway written. It keeps getting more elaborate, but I am entirely ok with that.)

I'm puttering along on my Blaine Anderson Big Bang (along with beta reading Paradise for @klaineitupanotch) which is the main reason I'm not doing much here. I'm not gone though! This is just another of those projects where I work for weeks and you see nothing and nothing and then POW something big all at once :)

In search of a BABB Beta

I’m starting on my story for the Blaine Anderson Big Bang, and I am ready to start searching for a beta. I do not really need help in the grammatical/proofreading side of things, but I do like to work with someone who can help me bounce ideas around for the plot and details. (Which means I want to start working with someone soon, rather than only at the end.)

I have my main outline, and have started some of the actual writing, but there are a lot of details that will need to come together still, and that’s where having someone to talk to is really invaluable for me.

There are several of you that I already know, either though working together previously or as friends. Either way, I find that it’s often easier to work with someone if we already have a little history. So I thought I’d raise the question here before starting to make ‘cold calls’ for the betas who have specifically signed up for the BABB.
