Nitpicking Playful Land's Localization
Maybe it's because I like KH, but I feel like the lack of ellipsis in Fellow's dialogue in the localization gives his sentences a different vibe from the original.
I would roughly translate Fellow's dialogue as:
"Even so... Will you still follow me/come along with me?"
There's also anythingooo's translation of this part that is also super good!
The ellipsis marks a pause, conveying that Fellow is hesitating. He seems to be afraid of what Gidel would answer, can't even presume the answer.
Fellow knows that his dream of making a school is too ambitious and he might not be able to make it come true. He know that if he wants to work towards it, a difficult and painful road awaits him.
He's hesitating, because he doesn't want Gidel to leave his side. He's way too important for him, his bossom buddy, his 弟分. But, because he's important, he has to make the question, because Gidel should follow his own path and he's free to choose if want to go to NRC or do something else.
Meanwhile, without that pause, Fellow seems more confident and chill. Like he would be okay with whatever Gidel's answer will be. Or like he already knows Gidel's answer.
Nitpicking Playful Land's Localization
twst en localization team sometimes makes questionable choices, that sometimes can be downright misinformation (like Cater being an only child (dunno if they ever corrected that part)). However, one part that bothered me the most in PL was this part.
In the original version, that dialogue goes like this.
(translation from here)
Fellow is considering both of them idiots in that part!! (╥﹏╥) Himself for having such a hard goal to achieve and Gidel for deciding to follow him along!
Also, and maybe this is because eng isn't my first language, but choosing to transtale "馬鹿" (baka) as "ninny" left me all confused and had to look that word up. I know that the localization team always tries to steer away from "bad" words, but still... Using "idiot" in that part wouldn't be too bad, since Fellow is also considering himself one, too. And it's not like he's looking down on Gidel or something like that. Coughitcanbeendearingmethinkscough
