Deeply deeply sad at the passing away of Girija Devi...as a disciple of Banaras gharana...was lucky to listen to this legend from a very young age...also met her the first time when I was a little boy with my father in Banaras...Got a message from Amjad Ali Khan saheb...some great performances they have done together...One thing I can tell you thumri will never be the same again...what a loss I feel today ...after the passing away of Bismillah Khan saheb...then Kishori Amonkar and now Girija Devi...all my childhood icons of classical music...there will never be people like them...RIP...
Shocked to hear that #Hindustani #Classical #Singer from #Seniya & #Benaras Gharana #GirijaDevi is no more with us. Her last public recital was for Sahitya Kala Parishad at #ThumriFestival. This sudden demise of her has saddened all the #Thumri lovers, nothing can fill the vacuum😢#RIPGirijaDevi #Legendary 😢
