studying for my robotics mechanics exam, sorry I’ve been dead lately, it’s a little pandemic-y out
[image id: a screenshot of notes on the Principle of Virtual Work, written in black/grey and a peachy highlighter. Describes virtual movement as a movement imposed by the viewer that doesn’t actually happen, and thus doesn’t have the same implications as forces in Newtonian mechanics. At the bottom, it says “nothing’s real, do what you want”, since any movement imposed doesn’t actually occur and can be any movement so that it doesn’t involve forces or moments the viewer does not care about. end id]
Right now I’m taking Mechanics of Materials, Systems Modeling and Controls, Robotics II, Microprocessors, and Leadership and Development for Engineers. I’m also planning on adding a math minor this semester, but it doesn’t really change much since it’s one additional class.
In other news, I cut one of the tendons in my thumb at the tail end of August and had to have surgery :( I still have occupational therapy every week for that, but I’ve been making progress! One of the good things to come out of it is I hit my insurance deductible, so I was able to see a fancy doctor about my knee problems and have been in physical therapy for that for about a month. On the one hand, I have about four appointments every week and a whole bunch of exercises I have to do every day on top of a hard course load and pledging a fraternity (again, thanks covid). On the other, I’m staying active in a way that will help me later on, and I can live a normal life doing all the things I used to love (like heels! I can wear heels again like I used to!). So, school hasn’t been as much of a priority this semester, which is hard, but we’re still trying!
