I made a studyblr a while back to get hyped for school and it sort of fell apart once school actually started so here I am, trying again!

My name is Marisa (nice to meet you!)

I'm a senior in high school this year and 17

I'm graduating in May (!!!)

I live in the Midwest (US)

I'm on a robotics team (FIRST & FRC)

My favorite subject is math

I'm a perfectionist, anxious, and probably have executive disfunction

I love space and physics and learning about the world around me

Future plans:

I will be majoring in Robotics Engineering next fall

I want to get an internship at a company like SpaceX or NASA

My dream job is to build rovers at NASA

Goals:

In order to keep all my scholarships I need to maintain a 3.8 but I made it a personal goal a while back to graduate with a 3.9

I started a journal at the beginning of the year and I want to write in it at least once a week

Use less than $5 worth of data a month

My username was inspired by @roboticsisforgirlstoo, who I found while I was creating mine. I decided to add girls at the beginning because I've seen first hand the lack of women in STEM, as I've been one of seven girls in my engineering classes (there's about 120 students total) and am one of six girls on my robotics team (about 30 students total). There's a lot of cultural things that have caused this and I've read and written a lot about it and will probably make a post on it in the future. I actually thought for a long time that I wanted to be an architect, and didn't want to consider engineering because it's "for men". Thankfully I changed my mind!

A short robot update

It's been a while, partly because I've had my FIRST FRC district competitions, and partly because I've been working through some mental health stuff which I'll talk about later.

Anyway I wanted to give an update because my queue ran out (don't know how long it's been since that happened) but also!!! At our first district, my team made it to the semi finals! And then we lost simply because we were up against a much better matched alliance. Then, this past weekend we went to our second district and we made it to the quarterfinals! This time, we lost cause our claw mechanism got stuck on the scale in auto (it went down and backed away at the same time when it should have backed away and then gone down). The first match we were stuck literally the entire time, and got like 105 or 205 points in penalties (Yay us for that high score of the day) and then the second time (cause our programmer is a bit of an egotistical butt but I love him) it was stuck for enough of the match that we lost again.

However, we still did really well, we made a great robot, it was a lot of fun to hang out with my subteam, all in all it was another great year. We will most likely be at Michigan's states again this year (!!!!) so hit me up if you're going! If y'all have any questions about FIRST or my experience and what I do feel free to drop by my ask!
