Native New Yorker Pam wanted to move back to the city from the suburbs of Westchester. She snatched up a tiny one-bedroom apartment a friend tipped her off to ("550 square feet on a good day but dripping with charm"), sent the majority of her worldly possessions into storage, and didn't look back.

The mural, which covers three walls of the living room (all but a tiny sliver between the windows), was custom-designed to fit the room.

The first order of business was opening up a little window that existed between the kitchen and the living room, followed by a serious paint job: No less than four or five buckets of super-high-gloss paint (Farrow & Ball's Pitch Black) were required to coat the kitchen walls and every inch of molding.

"It was a messy job," Pam says of the kitchen's black paint, which was applied once she was already living in the apartment. "Living there with my two dogs, I thought, If I survive this, I can handle anything." Clown art was a Paris flea market find.

Upon move-in, Pam—a self-proclaimed clotheshorse—realized that the bedroom's two closets were only half-depth. So she gave away some 65 percent of her wardrobe, put most of the rest in storage, and purchased infant-sized hangers to make a select few items fit.

"I wanted it to feel homey and really special," says Pam of the highly compact bedroom, so she covered it in icy-blue silk wallpaper.

Pam resolved to make this "the girliest bathroom." Her perfume collection stakes claim to the one flat surface in the space; a little chandelier hangs just out of view, while a collection of nudes by an artist friend are clustered closely on pink walls.

While looking for pins for my Just Peachy Pinterest board, I came across this wonderful peach-colored apt.

This is interesting- they integrated a home office area into what is, or was, a balcony.

The best shape to incorporate a dining table into a living room like this is rectangular. It fits perfectly at the far end.

White walls make a small bedroom look larger.

Instead of a large built-in wardrobe, they opted for two freestanding ones so as not to clutter up the space, since it has a very high ceiling. The curtains of the doors, lighten them.

The most intimate area of the house was distributed in a line so that the light passed from one space to another. And they were unified giving them the same color.
