Did anyone else notice this?
The scars are very different. In the first image the scar is considerably larger and more gnarly than in Giyuu's memory. This was the same case in the manga as well.
I believe this was an intentional choice because this is how Sabito really looked vs how GIYUU remembers Sabito. I suppose it could be said Giyuu was remembering through rose tinted glasses to an extent and it's understandable that after having repressed the memory of Sabito for so long some details would be off.
Also, In Giyuu's eyes Sabito's scar wasn't this huge, ugly thing because that didn't matter to Giyuu thus it's apperance being minimalized in his eyes. most people would be put off by that massive 'blemish' but seeing as it's been reduced to such a small detail was really touching in Giyuu's memory. Yes it's there, yes it's a part of Sabito, but Giyuu hardly notices it. All he sees is SABITO.
