Gish 2020, Item 251:  Camp GISH is hosting a formal party, and you forgot to pack — but you're nothing if not resourceful. Create a fashionable, rustic evening or cocktail dress or tuxedo all out of materials you'd find in the woods (foliage, pine needles, and pine cones, sticks... you get the idea). and model it in a "campground" or wilderness setting.

For perhaps the first time ever, a foliage-related challenge in which I didn’t inflict a massive allergic reaction on myself! WIN! Also, tree branch corsetry is UNCONFY.

I loved this item and had so much fun with it!  However, the dress didn't like me so much--I ended up having an allergic reaction to the cedar branches I used for the skirt!  Thankfully it wasn't too awful, and I love how the photo turned out, so...worth it! -Danalynn

Create a fashionable, rustic evening or cocktail dress or tuxedo all out of materials you’d find in the woods (foliage, pine needles, and pine cones, sticks… you get the idea). and model it in a “campground” or wilderness setting. (If you’re in a place that is in lockdown and you absolutely cannot go outside by law, you may instead fashion your attire out of the detritus of quarantine life: cardboard boxes. But we want to see the campground couture, so ONLY do this if you legally or safely cannot go out, and please note that fact in your comments.)

In the middle of making my "forest greenery" dress.  I used an old skirt and some ribbon as the base of the dress, and then spent lots of time hot gluing sallal leaves and cedar branches to it.   Originally, I wanted to have just the off-the-shoulder sleeves, but the dress was so heavy that I had to add the over-the-shoulder straps to keep the dress from falling down once I put it on! Luckily, I live in a forested area and we had just trimmed some trees, so I had plenty of material to work with!  

The dress ended up being super heavy and very difficult to get in and out of (I had to use a stepstool to be able to step into it!), but I love how it turned out! 

I even made some matching sandals--you gotta be dressed to the nines from head to toe for a Gish event! -Danalynn
