Doing this for GISH 2020, but obviously it's also something I feel very strongly about. (This sign is the one I brought to the Perth BLM rally; it got rained on, which is why the bottom edge is curling up.) The momentum might be flagging a bit as COVID drags on and 2020 keeps throwing Apocalypse Bingo at us, but let's still remember that Black Lives Matter and we need an end to racial profiling and police brutality, and that Australia is Aboriginal land and sovereignty was never ceded. Aboriginal people are being disproportionately incarcerated and killed on their own land.
GISH Task 177 - 'The Black Lives Matter movement inspired a lot of people to take action to address the realities of police brutality and the oppression that people of color live within many parts of the world every day. Thousands of people from all walks of life have been protesting, but with shelter-in-place restrictions and health considerations due to COVID, not everybody who has wanted to attend a rally or protest has been able to do so. We're changing that. We're hosting a virtual rally: post an image of yourself holding a poster with a message supporting equality or calling for an end to police brutality. Tag it #GISH4Equality and encourage your friends and teammates to participate, too.'
Even if you're not doing GISH, feel free to post your own protest photos and join us! ❤️
