Giulia Bencini working on a double Arabian. She has lots of FX potential (she has a very nice full in and has been working on a DLO), but she’s been dealing with small injuries for a while.

Looks like Giulia Bencini’s gym uses the team China method™ for chalking bars 😂👌🏼
Martina Maggio won the national championship for the senior 1 category with 56.050! Second place for Desirée Carofiglio (53.700), third Clara Colombo (52.100), fourth Giulia Bencini, and fifth Caterina Cereghetti. (Pic from GAI’s twitter)
Team Italy upgrades in training as of January 2017
- All 10 Italians currently training at Texas Dreams have Shap transitions in their routines and 7 of them have added Pak saltos (Giulia, Caterina, and Sofia are training it as well but it’s not ready yet).
- Giulia Bencini has added a double pike dismount off beam, plus she’s training a DLO into the pit. Her FX already counts a pike and tuck full-in, so this is some good stuff
- Sara Berardinelli is training a side aerial - LOSO connection on BB
- Sydney Saturnino is training a Galante (1.5 Y-turn) on beam
- Elisa Iorio already had a really nice double front off bars with knees together, and she’s now working a double front half out UB dismount

Italian juniors at Texas Dreams!
Team Italy 2017 new seniors
It’s almost 2017 so here’s the Italian girls turning senior!
GIULIA BENCINI
Giulia trains at the Civitavecchia gym club and she already competed in the junior national team in Jesolo and Carpiano. When she was 11 she won a Guinness World Record for doing 20 layout stepouts on beam in one minute (it was shown on tv in Italy and I’ve been looking forever for a video but I guess it was since removed).
She has a nice FTY on VT, on UB she has a Ricna and she’s been training a Maloney-tkachev connection. Beam is not her forte, but she has a bhs-bhs-loso and a double tuck dismount, whereas she’s looking promising on FX with a tuck and piked full-in.
FRANCESCA NOEMI LINARI
Noemi trains at Brixia gym in Brescia with Vanessa Ferrari. She already has some experience internationally, as she competed at EYOF in 2015 and then at Bern junior euros. In Bern, she was first reserve for the floor final and she was called in last minute to compete after Olivia Cimpian got injured, and she earned a well deserved 4th place (here’s her performance). She has AAer potential, and she’s working to upgrade all of her routines, but her top events are BB and FX.
On VT she has a 1.5 yurchenko, on UB she’s very inconsistent but she’s working on a geinger and a FTDLO dismount (video here), on BB she has a double spin, a bhs-bhs-loso as well as a layout to 2 feet, plus a 2.5 twisting dismount. On FX she has a full-in, a 2.5 and a really nice and bouncy choreo that suits her well.
MARTINA MAGGIO
Martina competes in the Serie A meets for the Robur et Virtus gym club, but she’s now moved to Brescia where she trains everyday. She won the gold medal on VT at 2016 Bern junior euros (here’s the video) but sadly she couldn’t compete in the AA due to some nagging muscle pain that she still hasn’t completely recovered from, which is why she will not go to Texas with the other girls in January.
She recently upgraded to a DTY on VT, she’s training a Ricna and a Maloney on bars, she looks very nice on BB where she competed a bhs-loso-loso, a layout, a sheep jump, a double tuck off, and she’s also training a bhs-tuck full. On FX, she competed a triple full, a full-in, double tuck and double pike in Bern.
CATERINA CEREGHETTI
Caterina used to compete for Switzerland, but she switched to Italy a year ago and she now trains at Centro Sport Bollate gym club. She competed at EYOF in 2015, where she had the best AA placement among the Italians. She had to deal with small injuries throughout the first part of 2016 but she’s now back in training. She has very pretty lines and her best events are bars and beam, which makes her a real asset for Italy,
On VT she competes a FTY, on UB she recently added a nice piked jaeger, on BB she has very nice extension on her leaps, a lovely bhs-loso-loso series, and a sheep jump. On FX she has a full-in, a Memmel turn, and a very captivating choreo.
SARA BERARDINELLI
Sara competes for Adesso Sport gym club in Rome. She won bronze on beam at Gymnix in 2015, when she also went “viral” on youtube for falling twice on her Tkachev on bars and being caught by her coach right before she fell on her head D: (here’s the video). Her top event is beam, but she also has nice lines on bars (but her tkachev still needs to go).
She has a FTY on VT, a Maloney and a full-in dismount on UB, and a bhs-bhs-loso series, and ring leaps on BB. Her FX has a low D, but her Memmel is pretty and potentially upgradable, and her leaps are nice, plus she has tons of personality.
