wait it just hit me that the abashiri movie is gonna be out tomorrow
#frothing at the mouth#ok. i'm so ready#it's gonna hit me like a truck#cheesesteak.txt#i'm ready to be destroyed by the pain#although i will say#netflix subtitles my beloathed#when my friend was streaming the other live action stuff to me it was making me mad#like no! why the fuck would you translate it like that!#a silent struggle that nobody will understand#sometimes they were simply mild inconveniences like they were unnecessarily roundabout or long#when they could be directly translated and still make sense#other times the translation defeated the whole purpose of the original line#like okay...#like i guess i can forgive some parts because the translators probably didn't know the context of the show as a whole and all but still#the other translations in general felt unnecessarily drawn-out#if it doesn't even add to the clarity what's the point of making the translation into two sentences when the original line was only one#it felt so unnatural and choppy sometimes#like i'm in no way qualified and my vocabulary isn't the best either (especially with technical terms)#but surely even i could phrase it more naturally#give me the script... i can edit it...#like i know translations aren't supposed to be direct#however#i think netflix goes TOO FAR with it#like there were so many times where they kinda lost the meaning and i was like are we serious#or they just avoided things altogether like come on#for someone with mediocre translation skills and no formal training in the matter i am picky.#maybe it's because i've been the Designated Translator for everyone all my life so i'm always in that translator mindset
