We need you! Make 100% tax-deductible gift today
We wish you Happy Holidays. At this time of year, we would like to express our deep gratitude to our donors who have made our programs possible and to the artists who have created and presented work with us over the years.
With your generous support, Smack Mellon has presented exhibitions by artists who are tackling subjects that challenge and encourage us to reflect on the changing world. We hope you'll continue to be an advocate for us this year and beyond by making a 100% tax-deductible gift today.
This year, Smack Mellon mounted ten museum scale exhibitions in our singular 5,000 square foot gallery on the Brooklyn waterfront, six solo and four group exhibitions presenting the work of 68 artists free of charge for an audience of over 10,000 people; provided 14 artists with access to free studio space, a $5,000 honorarium and private studio visits with NYC's most coveted curators; and mentored 46 NYC high school students through Art Ready an artist mentorship program in the artist's studio. Eighty-five percent of the artists we supported in 2018 identify as women and more than half are people of color.
Give by June 30 and your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar. Alumni like you provide a strong foundation for this iconoclastic school and the adventurous students who amble, argue, and parry on its paths. Make your gift online.

as some of you may or may not know, I will be donating a story this year to stories2savelives or as you probably have been seeing it, s2sl. All of the writers who are contributing have many reasons why they are doing so. I'm going to introduce you to mine.
This, is Ivy Paige. She is the daughter of a very good friend of mine. Isn't she sweet? In April of 2013 she was diagnosed with sacrococcygeal teratoma stage 2. And yes, it is cancerous.
her first surgery...
then in August, it got worse. they decided to do chemo. Ivy is seven months here.
more chemo...
Always so happy!!
Always a big smile through everything. After three rounds of chemo all before she turned one...
she went back in october of 2014, which was the one year mark of her last treatment and she is 100% all clear!!!
What a difference a year makes! A year ago we had a bright and happy 9 month old. She had been two weeks out from her last chemo treatment and was doing great. She was just crawling and working on pulling up on stuff. She was eating table food but still had her bottle. She loved being with her sisters and really enjoyed having them home. We started homeschooling a year ago Monday so she got to see them all the time. Now she is an opinionated, sassy, very girly, extremely independent, happy, social, CANCER FREE little girl!!! I can't believe in less than three months she will be two! It is crazy how time flies and how blessed we have been. -Mom, Nicole...
and she just turned two the other day!!!
So please, think about giving today. Even if you don't care about any of the stories that will be posted on Valentine's day, do it, for the kids that you know now, and the kids that you will know one day.
