The talk of the Great Italian Wine Ecounter show was the 2015 vintage and producers like Massimo Piccin talked about 2016 was just as good and maybe a bit better in Tuscany and Bolgheri from an early accessibility perspective. The 2016 @az.agr.fontodi Chianti Classicos are spectacular, the @petrolowinery Galatrona Merlot was sublime and the @poderesapaio Volpolo showed great early accessibility with gobs of black fruit, structure and acid. From the @vendemmiavino Great Italian Wine Encounter 2020 - the wines of @pieropanwine with Andrea Pieropan. Beautiful Soave Classico along with the Calvarino and La Rocca. Beautiful acid and texture on these with the La Rocca showing wonderful tropical fruit and a core of acid that will allow for aging. According to Andrea, the Calvarino can stand with Chablis aged and the La Rocca can shine beside Montrachet.
