2024 Black Hills Estate Winery Nota Bene Hiatus Collection
This is a powerhouse; elegantly crafted and worthy of the Nota Bene label. It is young, a little gangly at the moment but fast forward a couple of years emerging from a rest in the cellar and this will delight.
The wine shows a medium-plus body with a deep purple core that gradually softens toward the rim of the glass.
On the nose, it opens with layered aromas of crushed rock, rust, violets, black currant, vanilla, and black olive. The bouquet is clean, expressive, and continually evolves with time in the glass.
The palate begins softly, revealing elegant notes of black plum and dark berries before deepening into a long, lingering finish. Nuances of black olive, vanilla, espresso, iron and toasted oak add complexity and depth. Fine-grained tannins and a subtle spice are balanced by a vibrant core of acidity, providing both structure and freshness that promise excellent aging potential.
The inaugural vintage of the Hiatus Collection is a finely crafted, cellar-worthy Bordeaux blend that combines power with refinement.
