Canon Character Study: Sieran
Sieran, the famous cheerful Priory Magister who's always ready with a cherry if you dare have a negative thought.
As norn, if you choose to join the Priory:
Scholar Prott: She's whip-smart, fearless, and full of energy. You two should get along famously, though she tends to stir up trouble when she's bored.
Tybalt Leftpaw edges her out in popularity just because he chose a more common fruit (apples), but Sieran has a little spice of unperceived depth.
I look at these creatures, and I think of my home in the Grove. What would I be willing to do if something threatened it?
Narrijoo tells a pretty sad story, eh? But we can give it a happy ending.
Ha! I know what Gixx would say if I said that. "Don't be so frivolous, you fern-faced fathead." He'd say it in that unfriendly way of his, of course, as part of the joke.
Even if we find a way to save the world from the dragons, I sometimes wonder if we'll ever find a way to save us from ourselves.
Poor Gixx. You're just jealous that you're stuck in here being leadery and responsible, while we're having all the fun.
I was hoping to fall in love at least once before I died... but I guess I'm ready. If you are.
(Tiny disclaimer: that last one was a throwaway line in one of the earlier missions. -helpless, tearful glare- you monster, you - Anet your - foreshadowing, it hurts -)
She's a tragic character.
She's a brave, hopeful personality - but at the same time there's some sorrow, and a tinge of that loss that romantics die over. A drop of regret, unfulfilled.
Her character was one designed, from the start, to die. To deny her, irrevocably, what she always wanted and, somehow, knew she could never have.
Here's my summation of her character:
She has hope for the world, but not for herself.
She believes the world can be saved from the dragons. But she doesn't see herself as having a place in this freed future.
She's going to enjoy the world and all its fun while it lasts, but she isn't a hero, she can't save the world, but it's a bright brave amazing beautiful place, and -
And her last words were: There was so much I wanted to see.
Someday the world will be free, and someday the corruption will be washed away, and someday it will be far, far too beautiful to comprehend - but I feel as if she knew she would never see that day.
She knows that Gixx doesn't like her, but she's putting a positive spin on it because what can you do? Enjoy life while you can.
She said, before she died, that she'd learned friends would do anything for each other. But I think what she really learned was that anybody can save the world. Anybody can be a hero - heroes aren't brilliant, perfect creatures who make no mistakes and never let anything bad happen. Heroes are just people who try with all their strength, even when its hopeless, because what can you do? Make sure the people you love can enjoy the best life possible.
