This is the first of a series of posts that cover a recent trip to #MilfordTrack bordering on #MilfordSound #NewZealand - The walk from #GladeHouse up to #SandflyPoint is THE spectacular Milford Track. They claim it is 54k but I swear it is 65k if it’s a metre. Adding on side trips and my warm up walks around #Queenstown I racked up 110k and 500+ stories of climb and descent. I witnessed several avalanches and heard many more and on top of that I was stranded in Milford (bummer!) for an extra night due to a road closure. The adventure at times was in warm sunshine, other times, in driving and bitterly cold rain and sometimes I was more like a mountain goat and other times hopping along like a school kid about to start holidays. I hope that you enjoy my ramblings and photos as I unwrap what was one of the best trips of my life..... so far !!! Landing at Queenstown Airport late on Saturday afternoon I took a short stroll to my AirBNB accomodation at Frankton. The home is all-but across the road from the Airport and just 7.5K stroll into Queenstown. I stayed here on my last trip so the choice was easy. The price was right and I was keen for a 20k warm up on Monday before heading off to hike the Milford Track. Picking up my camera I wandered to the park to suck up the Kiwi weather which was warm and welcoming. It was about 7pm when I took these shots and there was still 2 hours or so of daylight to be enjoyed ....
