He took his seat once again, but he didn't rest leisurely on the lounge this time: instead, he propped up his chin by resting it on his hand, an elbow on the couch's armrest, and he smiled carelessly as he watched Azula studying the report as thoroughly as she did.

At first, his persistent staring seemed to be perfectly ignorable. But after a while, the numbers were far more difficult to focus on…

"Are you planning on staring at me without blinking for the rest of the evening?"

"I wish I could do it without blinking, frankly" Sokka replied, smiling. Azula finally tore her eyes from the scroll to scowl skeptically at him "But yeah, I am. Sorry if you don't like it"

"I… I like it fine except for how distracting it can be. Look at something else" she mumbled: she was finally at the last set of numbers, and afterwards there was an analytical paragraph she would do best to focus on right now.

"What's the point of looking at anything else when I can be looking at you?" Sokka smiled carelessly.

The more he thought about Azula's upcoming departure, the more he wondered if he could bring himself to see her off. Even if it was just for a couple of hours, or for a few days, he simply didn't want to put any distance between them. If only matters weren't so serious right now, he would just take her into his arms once again, damn the consequences… but he surprised himself with his self-restraint.

"Did you just…?!" Azula started, but her words trailed off with a laughter spree that she couldn't possibly control. Sokka joined in before long, his hand rubbing gentle circles on her shoulder.

"Maybe the city of Sokkazula then, that might work too!" he chuckled.
