LIFT VIPs: Daniel Sharratt and Gladstone Brewing Company “I started homebrewing 7,8 years ago in Victoria. I loved it. I always wanted to have a business, and my wife got on board with me opening a brewery, and here we are.” ~ Daniel Sharratt Interviewed and photographed by Amy Criss (AC). AC: Tell me a little about yourself and the origins of GB. DANIEL: It was really quite simple. I'd finished grad school and had been brewing beer in my garage. We decided to move here, and I saw an opportunity to start a brewery. We've been lucky. Good timing and lots of demand meant that we were able to grow quickly. AC: Why is Gladstone Brewing a LIFT Community Partner? DANIEL: I was really impressed with the presentations I'd seen and been part of when it was The #WeAreYQQ Project. I also wanted to take advantage of some of the resources and community connections LIFT has to offer. AC: What has been the biggest benefit to Gladstone Brewing of being a LIFT Community Partner? DANIEL: We really appreciate all the social media marketing, and having other members coming in and drinking our beer. It creates a great connection and a sense of community with the Comox Valley. Bringing the entrepreneurs and business people together fits with our philosophy here at Gladstone as well. I think we're a good fit. We want to support local as well.
