'Glasgow Slow Down' a public artwork by Jacqueline Donachie

A VELOCITY commission, part of the Glasgow 2014 Cultural Programme.
Glasgow Slow Down is a temporary public artwork and performance, made by artist Jacqueline Donachie in collaboration with 100 cyclists. The performance event on Sunday 13th April 2014 will result in a city-wide ribbon of colour, made by the cyclists as they travel slowly through Glasgow, coming together in George Square.
The drawing will be made on the road using a small device attached to each bike that leaves behind a single fine line of coloured chalk. To make the chalk lines, cyclists must ride very slowly, thus having a chance to meander through their city at a different pace, going through areas both well known and newly discovered.
Riders will be embarking in groups of 25 from designated muster points in the North, South, East and West of the city at 9 AM, riding on public roads and cycle paths into the centre. Watch, wave, cheer and support them as they set off, and follow the lines across at any point along the routes. Get your camera out and snap some street art before the rain comes! You can be there to greet all 100 riders as they converge at George Square from 10AM before they set off for the final procession route to The Briggait at 10.30 AM.
Please note, places for the cycle teams are limited, and only cyclists pre-registered with Glasgow Slow Down will be allowed to participant in the drawing teams. To register your interest please contact [email protected]

9.00 AM - Cyclists depart from muster points in the North, South, East and West of the City listed bellow, see the full routes on our Facebook page a week before.
10.00 AM approx. – All cyclists groups converge at George Square.
10.30 AM - Cyclists and supporters together depart from George Square, parading colourfully through the city centre to The Briggait, 141 Bridgegate, G1 5HZ.
