I finally got around to tack fusing the orange and red squares. The clumps of black frit are doing what I wanted them to do. The last step for these pieces will be to slump them in a square curve mold.

I also spent some time drilling holes into a pattern bar slice to make a button. The end result is nice, but drilling holes into such a thick piece with only a handheld drill is far too time consuming: each of the four holes took about 10 minutes to drill, and I wore all the way through one drill bit and most of the way through another. This process is perhaps more interesting than practical.
