Glass and moire patterns with rotated text
Having been interested in moire and Glass patterns for some while now it occurred to me that text is semi-random, in the same fashion that is required of the "random" dots that are used to create the Glass patterns used in the physiological and psychological study of visual perception.

The text in the video shows a Glass pattern but similar to random dots only over a very small angle of rotation, try scrubbing through the first second of the clip. The line structure of text however results in "line moire" patterns, breaking of the pattern seems to arise from the paragraph breaks.
Nerd alert: - yes I am aware that there isn’t really such a thing as “semi-random” the distribution of the text or the dots in particular is probably more nearly Gaussian. Qualified absolutes can really tick me off, the one I really loath is “very unique”.
Glass Patterns
Glass Patterns, rotation of a random dot pattern on top of itself, at small angles of rotation, your brain and visual system see structure, curves that aren't really there, these disappear when the angle of rotation increases and the pattern once more is seen as random. See: -

This is I suppose the same sort of thing as seeing the lights along a street as being in a string.
Programmed in Processing, I am a beginner and it took me a long time to work out how to do what I wanted without the saveFrame() overwriting itself, turns out you can include a loop variable in the file name: -
