HUMANITY. In Singapore, there’s no such thing as a FREE lunch. Well, last Sunday, we joined many others at City Square Mall to get FREE lunch and savour how food made from ‘ugly’ food & veggies unsold from markets taste so good <3 In same spirit, you may join us for FREE steamboat at BIOSKOPE this Saturday: https://bioskopegleaners.peatix.com Yummy! Kudos to Gone Adventurin, chefs, gleaners, organisers & volunteers 👍🏼 What surprised us was that the amount of food waste from unsold vegetables in one day from one wholesale market location alone could feed 5000. Imagine how many more people we could have fed every day if we ever collected all unsold vegetables across Singapore. Today was also a good way to reconnect with friends we’ve made from our previous TECH TARIK on Food Waste, and to see the power of committed citizens doing their part in fighting climate change, irresponsible food behaviours and hunger, while having community fun :) In case you’re wondering why the name? It is one inspired by the Christian faith. The Feeding of the 5,000 is also known as the "miracle of the five loaves and two fish", because the Gospel of John reports that five barley loaves and two small fish supplied by a boy were used by Jesus to feed a multitude. With this spirit to appreciate our food better, together with amazing friends from Kampung Picnic, we would be holding a full day and night of activities this Saturday (31 Mar) from veggie gleaning to FREE Steamboat leading up to screening of ‘The Gleaners & I’ at BIOSKOPE. If you want to join us for Veggie Gleaning and FREE Steamboat in the day on 31 March, simply PM us or comment below :) If you want to join in for BIOSKOPE screening at MOX, simply grab your tix here: https://bioskopegleaners.peatix.com To stay updated, click ‘Interested’ on our Facebook event page: www.bit.ly/bioskopegleaners #SayItLikeYouGleanIt #GleanIsGreen #ClimateActionSG #SustainableSG (at City Square Mall)
