Rain pounded against the pavement - thunder rumbling, lightning flashing - and their laughter echoed through the deserted streets, creating music they couldn't help but dance to.
The storm had caught them unaware, soaking through Mercedes' best dress, but she didn't care. In that moment - running, dancing, hand in hand with Sam Evans - everything melted away, all worries and fears disappeared.
Finally under the cover of her front porch she shook, nerves returning as the rain soaked chill settled into her bones. But then Sam grinned down at her before pulling her in, smile meeting smile, and she felt fearless once more.
“So what if Blaine is outstanding? He could win every pianist award we’ve never heard of; that doesn’t change anything. Take lessons again if that’s what you want.”
“I suppose.”
“Besides, you don’t give yourself enough credit; you’re a fantastic player.”
“Well, thanks.”
“What you and Blaine have together is frankly incredible. But don’t let his talents keep you from pursuing yours. Your light is too bright for that, and you know it.”
“You’re right.”
“You know I love you. Now let’s go; we’re late to meet him!”

A little Kelliot friendship for the @gleedrabbleblog week 14 word: player
Request; Not one, just something I wanted to write.
Summary; Y/N likes Rory, but refuses to acknowledge these feelings, until a certain dodgeball game takes place.
Why does everyone keep putting me and Rory together? Oh yeah. because they all think I liked him.
I can say with certainty that I do not like Rory. Yeah, we’re friends and all and he’s great, the accent is adorable, especially when he gets flustered. Alright, he’s pretty cute as well, and I love singing with him, he’s got a great voice. Honestly, I just love spending time with him in general, he makes me smile.
But none of that means I like him.
We’d been put together again, and as much as I liked singing with him, being together every week was getting slightly ridiculous. I’d asked Mr Schue to pair me with literally anyone else on multiple occasions.
In private of course, I wouldn’t want to offend Rory. I wouldn’t be able to stand him being mad at me. I’d had enough of this.
“Mercedes!” I yelled, seeing just who I was looking for.
“Hey, what’s up?” She smiled, as I caught up to her.
“Are the Trouble Tones still looking for girls?” I asked. “I’d actually like to have a partner other than Rory.”
“Yeah girl, come along.” I followed her to the room where Santana, Sugar and some others were already waiting. “We’ve got a new recruit.”
“Hey guys. Thanks for letting me join.” I smiled. “Maybe now I can actually get some good songs and good duets.”
“We like to try and showcase every voice in the best way here.” Shelby smiled.
We got straight down to work trying out different pairings, solos and choreography. Once we were done for the day, deciding me and Brittany would be doing a duet. I was so happy to be paired with someone new.
Apparently, Trouble Tones were feuding with the New Directions, mainly over nothing. I’d stayed out of it, and just got on with everyone, but somehow it had escalated into a dodgeball match between the two teams. Honestly, I’m surprised it’s not a sing off.
Since I was in their group, I was on the side of the Trouble Tones.
Finn and Santana were going at it as usual, when Rory spoke up.
“I’ve never played this game of dodging balls.” He said, which was kinda adorable. “How do you play?”
Santana rolled her eyes and brushed him off.
“Dodge any balls thrown by us and try to hit our side when you throw a ball.” I smiled. “Oh, and if you can catch a ball without it touching the ground, the thrower is out. Good luck.”
I got into my position, ignoring the comment from Santana about talking with the enemy.
.......
The game got a little intense, ending with our side winning when Santana eliminated Finn.
Everything seemed to be alright, until the girls decided to pelt Rory with the balls until he collapsed on the floor.
“Rory!” I yelled, running over to him. I dropped to the floor next to him. “Stop it, he’s bleeding.”
Santana and the others laughed, except Mercedes. “Why do you care anyway? Santana smirked. “He’s the enemy, plus you hated singing with him every week, even though you’re in love with him.”
“No, you guys are the enemy and I’m not in love with him. I don’t wanna be a part of a group full of bullies.” I told Santana, as I helped Rory up. “I’m going back to the New Directions.”
With that, I left the gym with Rory to take him to the nurse.
“Are you okay?” I asked, as we walked.
“I’m fine, just a nose bleed, I think.” He smiled, god he had a beautiful smile. “So, am I really that bad to sing with?”
“Oh no Rory, of course not. You have a great voice.” I said. “But we were together all the time, I just wanted to try something new and Mr Schue wasn’t letting me.”
“I can understand that, everyone else got solos or duets with others and it was us two all the time. Not that you’re not a good singer.”
We arrived at the nurse’s office, she checked him over, confirming it was just a nosebleed, but because he got hit in the head a few times, she wanted him to stay a little in case he had a concussion.
I was allowed to stay with him, keep an eye on him whilst the nurse did other things.
“Look Rory, I liked being paired with you, I have a great time with you, singing with you is always awesome, spending time with you at all is awesome. I just....wanted to try out a few more things, you know?”
“I love singing with you Y/N, I always do.” He smiled. “But I get it. We’ll both go to Shue and ask for something new.”
“Thanks Rory.”
“So, what’s this about you being in love with me?” He smirked.
I rolled my eyes. “Just cause I’ve mentioned you to the girls a few times before, they seem to think I’m in love with you.”
“Oh yeah, what do you say?” He asked, seeming eager to carry on the conversation.
“How annoying you are.” I let out a laugh. “I’m kidding., just how much I enjoy hanging out with you outside of Glee. How funny and great you are.”
“You sure you don’t love me?” He asked, with a wink.
“Okay, I’m leaving. You can be bored.”
I got up to leave, but he grabbed my hand to stop me. “Don’t go.”
I sat back now, knowing I probably wouldn’t have left anyway.
“Look Y/N, I like you....a lot. Which is why I liked being paired with you so much.” Rory explained. “Could we at least try one date? It’s the least you can do after being part of the team that nearly broke my nose.”
I could see the cheeky grin spread across his face that I loved. He is a great guy.
“Pick me up at 7 on Saturday?” I asked. He nodded eagerly.
The nurse came over to check him over before releasing us.
“Hey, maybe I don’t need a new duet partner after all.” I grinned, as we walked out of the door.

Strawberry Picking
for @gleedrabbleblog Prompt 1: Harvest
“Stace! Stay where Quinn or I can see you!”
Sam turned to Quinn and rolled his eyes at his little sister’s antics.
“Thanks again for doing this,” He told her, hands in his pockets as he rocked back and forth on the balls of his feet, looking at Stevie calmly picking strawberries next to them, “I’ll pay you back, I promise.”
“No need,” Quinn replied, “It’s a birthday present for the twins. I used to love strawberry picking as a kid.”
She leaned down, ruffled Stevie’s hair. He looked up and smiled at her, stuffing a strawberry in his mouth.
just a cute little Fabrevans friendship drabble set in the summer after S2 before Sam moves to Kentucky and Quinn becomes a skank. apparently my writing brain is back! yay!
