Ok, what can I say, I'm a huge sucker for painfully (rightfully in this case) embittered characters who manage to work through their stuff enough to love.

Ahad and Glee Shoth from the third Inheritance Trilogy by NK Jemisin (The Kingdom of Gods). If there's very little fan art of the three there's even less of these two. These are how I imagine them anyway. I really love the characters in this book.

Omg do you mind me asking who your favorite characters are in the Inheritance Trilogy? I'm starved for content about it 😭

anyway, confession time for some context: i first got into intri having already spoiled myself on a lot of the lore, specifically itempas murdering enefa over nahadoth because he's just that insane about his (sort of) big brother. this premise is what even hooked me in the series in the first place and made me want to read it, so naturally my faves all ended up being either itempas or characters most strongly related to itempas' arc; even though we get a lot more insight into itempas over the series and i understood pretty early on that the impression i had of him and his actions which kickstarted the gods' war was simplistic and not completely accurate, he and his narrative are still the main focus of my investment in the story.

so regarding my favorites: itempas, obviously. oree and glee are close seconds, and they sometimes take turns booting him out of first place for a time. i also really really love the first shahar arameri and to this day i hope and pray that we may get that intri prequel that gives her center stage please please please PLEASEEEE. that being said, while those four sit firmly at the top, there are still a lot of characters i really like. yeine and sieh, and slightly below them nahadoth. i also have a soft spot for scimina, because that's how you write a female character who's evil just to be evil and still make her enjoyable and charismatic and actually a character in her own right with her own self-contained narrative, not just to prop up men with her evil-ness. that being said, while the ones i just mentioned are my standouts, i don't truly dislike any decently plot-relevant character in the series. i do think that jemisin wrote many of the major characters as being... not especially likable as people - most of them are too extreme bc they're gods who have to embody concepts, like itempas and sieh and nahadoth, or too amoral bc they were raised in such a distinctive environment and culture, like yeine being raised in darr and scimina being raised as a member of the arameri central family - but that's an intentional feature, not a flaw
