Anyone drinking Glen Scotia 12 isn’t looking for a “tame” whisky. The distillery is known for a character that connoisseurs often describe as “dirty & maritime.”

This means:

Oily texture: The whisky coats the tongue with a rich, creamy mouthfeel.

Salty notes: You can almost taste the Atlantic sea spray wafting through the warehouses.

Glen Scotia has understood what modern whisky fans want. The 12-year-old expression also follows these principles:

46% ABV: Not watered down, but with enough strength to carry the flavours.

Non-chill-filtered: All natural oils are preserved (important for the mouthfeel).

Hey guys. How's it going? So I told you yesterday that my good friend @whiskypeater sent me, from the goodness of his heart, a couple of samples. Just to be clear, these are whisky samples 😄 I decided to start off with the Glen Scotia. This is the 2008 Ruby Port Finish expression. Here is my review: Nose: Right off the bat I get a subtle hint of smoke, after I can feel notes of nuts, chocolate, vanilla and forest fruit. Palate: The smoke is more proeminent then on the nose. Vanilla again with chocolate and berries(maybe, it's very subtle). Finish: Long and dry. It's a bit sweet and I can feel some blackberries shrouded in burnt oak wood. It's an interesting whisky, a bit on the peated side, not too strong though. I would say it's a good Campbeltown scotch 👌🏻 Thank you Peter for a really nice sample. More follows so stay tuned 😉. Glen Scotia Campbeltown Harbour is the entry-level whisky from the traditional Glen Scotia distillery in Campbeltown. It was designed to capture the maritime character of the former "whisky capital of the world" in an accessible form. It is deliberately "smoother" than the well-known Glen Scotia Double Cask or the 15-year-old and is aimed at connoisseurs seeking an uncomplicated yet characterful everyday dram.

The texture is rather light. Ripe peaches and apples dominate the palate, followed by creamy vanilla pudding and toffee. The finish reveals a subtle peat smoke paired with a maritime salt note.

Glen Scotia Whisky 9 y.o. Festival Edition 2025

The Glen Scotia distillery presents a limited special bottling for the Campbeltown Malts Festival 2025: the 9-year-old Glen Scotia Heavily Peated Ribera del Duero Finish. This edition is distinguished by its unique production process and diverse flavors.

For this bottling, heavily peated malt was used, which is distilled only for six weeks each year, emphasizing its exclusivity. The whisky initially matured for approximately eight and a half years in first-fill bourbon casks before undergoing a five-month finishing period in red wine casks from the renowned Spanish region of Ribera del Duero.
