under the cut cuz this got long lmao
Additional one that I’m less sure really counts and also I don’t remember the name of but there was like this dog girl (like horse girl) book series where this wolf had some big destiny to fulfill but others were hunting him down, and to escape he’d jump into this magic pool and become a domestic dog that lives with a girl for the duration of the book and he’d learn life lessons? I actually just remembered it vaguely because Wolves of the Beyond somewhat reminded me of it. Anyways it was aimed at like 9+ year olds i think? So idk if it’d really interest people tbh but I remember reading a few as a kid and really liked it. I think “magic” was in the title? … Don’t have a lot to go off of here sorry…..
Would it have been the Magic Puppy series by Sue Bentley? I'm absolutely down to queue it, books people read as kids still count :3
very basic but what do you think of knuckles’s relationship with sonic and then tails? like individually with each of them
As a collective i do very much think of them as found family, they were a bunch of kids trying to figure out how to survive the many attempts of Eggman taking over Sonic and Knuckles have the kind of relationship where could just not talk to each other for a while but when they do, its like picking up exactly where they left off. Sonic likes to annoy the life out of Knuckles, in the very specific way of beating each other with metal chairs or just being incorrect loudly as a bit. Of course they do have their moments where they explore angel island together. Sonic doesn't really feel the need to say it out loud but when knuckles does take him around the island he's deeply appreciative of how much Knuckles trusts him and how he'd hate to let him down. When Sonic is around him, i think he does overcompensate just a little in the way of "hey bro check out this cool thing i can do". Knuckles for sure worries about Sonic way more than he lets on while also just disappearing for months with radio silence, he's just a little weird that way. And while knuckles won't admit it himself, he does like to be included when they go out on adventures as Team Sonic Tails is a little more complicated, knuckles feels very obligated to look after him as much as Sonic but somehow didn't develop the same closeness that Sonic has with Tails despite having known him for just as long. He still cares about the kid and is ultimately there for him when it matters, but he cant help but feel guilty about it at times. I think he chalks it up to: being busy protecting the master emerald or just any excuse he can come up with. Tails himself doesn't really think too much of it because "that's just how knuckles is" but whenever they get talking they really do bond over having a wealth of knowledge over their respective interests. Maybe one day as tails gets older they really start to bond.
Overall I think Knuckles finds himself feeling responsible for the two of them, not only out of the fact that they grew up around each other but that they've had such positive impacts their lives
