So I recently picked up Hello Kitty Island Adventure and I am remembering my beloved Haida from Aggretsuko because Sanrio decided to be beautifully evil and put a good chunk of the cast in the game. I am actively losing my mind because when I was younger and there were only maybe two or three seasons of the show out, I physically couldn't watch it because I'd fangirl and get so giddy to the point I had to stop because my chest got too tight. I am going to be unbearable about this for the next three weeks and potentially binge the whole show because goddamn if it ain't a damn treasure

Yeah I caved and drew my oc and I'm too lazy to put her on my actual art blog lol This is Hikari, one of my KNY OCs. She grew up in her family's basement after her birth made her mother infertile. Her father was a samurai so this infuriated him, which caused her to be locked away, living off of scraps with little to no light ever gracing her presence. Hikari was only ever able to escape thanks to the inadvertent aid of Kokushibo, who had decimated her entire village, leaving everyone there dead and several budlings torn to pieces. When she initially encountered him, she reacted reasonably, with extreme fear. It was in that instance, Kokushibo saw some sort of ember within her, one that could be coaxed into a roaring fire with the right technique. She was the daughter of the samurai he had just consumed, he could smell it in her veins. This human could be trained. He made an offer; allow him to train her and send her away to grow stronger, or she could die at his feet from the strike of his blade. Hikari made the choice to live, and while the training was brutal, and her eyes often filled with tears, she held up against Kokushibo's training and went onwards to the trials. Within the small home she took shelter in within the wreckage of her old home, she received her sword, uniform and crow, and began her new life as a Demon Slayer. Such a new gift was not left untainted, as each fortnight, Kokushibo seeks out Hikari, to test her ever growing skills and to illicit information from her, through pain and tears, she speaks, giving more information to him and through him to Muzan. She betrays her peers, elders and friends in exchange for this new life, unknowing that the only reason her teacher was even allowed to keep her as his pupil was for the purpose of gathering information of the Blue Spider Lily. Hikari knows of this, and knows what harm demons have done and even stands to learn under the guidance of one of the Kizuki, yet she cannot seem to tear herself away from it all, knowing it'll be her end. Knowing everything, she hides, cowering in the dark, rarely ever training with any of her peers, all in an effort to gift herself the luxury of comfort. Her training is still deeply intense when she sees her teacher, and she steadily climbs the ranks of the slayers, the echoing voice of Kokushibo telling her than one day they will truly fight, and if she held any worth beyond that of a sniveling rodent, she would defeat him. She currently holds the rank of Kinoe, and is considered one of the strongest slayers in the corps, despite her skittish nature and tendency to begin sobbing at seemingly any point in time. Hikari as expressed extreme fearfulness around Tengen, Sanemi, and Shinobu, with a sense of unease being demonstrated around others. She often jumps back if she ever finds herself in the presence of the Hashira, and Mitsuri seems to be rather fond of the girl, even going as far as to offer her to be her tsuguko after seeing her capabilities in combat. This offer was refused rather fervently. Obanai does not fully trust Hikari, saying that to him, a woman like her is always hiding something, and Hikari in return feels as though, despite his poor eyesight, Obanai can see through her as if she were as clear as water. The only Hashira that Hikari has even been seen looking relatively at ease around is Gyomei, as his calm nature seems to act as a sort of balm to her skittishness. She can be found meditating with Gyomei on occassion and some, if they are lucky, can see her smile lightly when interacting with the small animals at his home.
