Glitter Advocate: NYX Glitter Mania Review, Photos & Swatches

FIRST THOUGHTS: “One of my guilty pleasures now."

I get a lot of questions about the glitter product I use in my EOTDs, so that will be our topic for today… now listen attentively and don’t you dare chat with your seatmate! ☺ It wasn’t easy to organize my thoughts on how am I going to review glitters, especially when “sparkly colored sand” is the only description my brain is pushing. But to start (you can do it, brain), I advocate that a dash of glitter, a touch of shimmer, and a sparkle here and there never hurt anyone. And if you have a good excuse to get dolled up, it’s the best time to put your cosmetic-grade glitter in good use. 

NYX Glitter Mania is very fine, non-abrasive, and almost consistently sized sparkly colored sand. It’s just a plain glitter without any pigment and with the most self-explanatory shades – no color shifts nor mixes. Though cosmetic-grade, it’s not advertised for use on eyes as per FDA recommendation. But since I bought these for my EOTDs, I make sure to use a good glitter base, be careful, apply properly, fix it, and again be careful. #YOLO #badinfluence ☺

The glitters come in little vials with extra-small opening that even my smallest eye brush is challenged to fit inside. Why it has to be packaged this way?! To use, I have to pour a certain amount on the equally weird-shape lid, then I have to carefully transfer back the excess into the vial because if I don’t glitters will explode in my hands! A shaker is ideal and will make my life easier, yeah remind me that I need to buy 4 shakers.

Removing is always tricky; you have to be patient to thoroughly clean the eye area. One time, I can't get this piece of glitter out of the corner of my eye and I was so paranoid I might develop rainbow vision. What is a rainbow vision? I’m clueless. All I know is that scotch tape saved me; it’s a great tool to remove stubborn glitters. Other uses? As a nail polish is the safest and obvious choice, or a body glitter when there are events like concerts, or sprinkle it on your hair for whatever reason it is you need to sparkle.
