7 months off #T, I’m in an ongoing exploration of my body as a site of #genderabolition. Or maybe this is all a plot by @alafemmegaze to make me their #glitterboi ? #queerart https://www.instagram.com/p/B82xh7ABkNg/?igshid=1k1shjrdu0w0w
Emerging photographer Quil Lemons is challenging our notions of gender and race with his series 'Glitterboy.'
9/19/17
Quil Lemons is a 20 year old black photographer who challenges ideas of sexuality and gender expression with racial photography. When I first saw Glittlerboy, I immediatly fell in love. I am a super dramatic person, but I am not exaggerating at all when I say that it took me no time at all to become enfatuated with this series. I have so many different associations with this series, and everytime I look at a new picture from it I have another deeply connected idea from somewhere in my brain.
One thing that is super sick about this series is all of its connections with one of my favorite musicians, Frank Ocean.
Around 2016 or 2015, Frank Ocean released his snapchat on his private blog. It was called "arealglitterboy"
In Frank Oceans "Nikes" music video, there are clips of him with glitter on his cheeks, the same way that Lemons put the glitter on his subjects. So fantastically arranged and pulled of tremendously.
