I think most of what makes the spn experience so unique is that everything that was ever written into the show has "don't think about it too hard" as a premise. Unfortunately (for them) every single person on this fandom thinks as hard as humanly possible about every single detail ever incorporated into this show.
This will sound weird, but hear me out, I started watching shameless recently and for some reason the dynamics remind me of dynasty. Which I know it's hilarious because the shows are actually polar oposites, but just... they focus on these dysfunctional families with a father that's not very good at fathering (and has his own poor excuse of a parent, mind I add) and a mother who leaves, but comes back and everyone wishes she had stayed away. Everyone is always doing something absolute batshit or just making terrible choices in general. There's some criminal shit going on.
And well... if you think about it, and squint, they're both after money 24/7, and doing questionable shit to get it. But the Carringtons are just greedy while the Gallaghers just want to literally survive. I'm not sure what I'm saying here... probably that these shows are on opposite ends of a spectrum.
