Hey there, scalie Thaddeus! Let’s see what type of team I can cook up for you. I hope it’s cool enough for you. I am scaling the team a bit as if Glaedreon was a Pokemon region. And well, he is responsible for the Order, so, the Pokemon are a bit more “beefy.”

Alolan Sandslash is easily one of the beefier/stronger Ice types available in terms of Pokemon. Ice-types, generally, are the rarest to find since they’re so limited but, they can hold quite a punch! A natural choice for the lovely leader of the Order! However, with the natural form of the Alolan Sandslash can use the back icicles as weapons, I thought it fit Thaddeus’ fighting style wonderfully as a call back to it.

Froslass, a personal favorite of mine! As an ice/ghost typing, and the usual mythos behind the Pokemon, having her on Thaddeus’ team can make cover easily (as they can make blizzards and heavy snow). She can be one of the few counters towards Thaddeus’ bad habits in heavy drinking and drug usage. Maybe she can’t exactly freeze this Dragon, but, her chilly breath may phase him off whatever he’s doing. ( To note: this Pokemon is said to be a spirit of a deceased woman; take what you will with this but, personal HC that Froslass can be Thaddeus’ mother if she did pass away after abandoning her nest ).

Honestly? I just personally like this Pokemon for Thaddeus. The typing matches well with Thaddeus’ other element control (water). As well Thaddeus’ described draconic form reminded me of Golden/Seaking (koi pattern) and this Pokemon (serpent body). Sadly, there aren’t really any antlered water/ice Pokemon and, per my challenge, no dragon types for the dragon folks. Milotic can naturally calm down the violent hearts of many and I think Thaddeus Ice needs it, imo.

Aurorus falls under the same branch of “personal preference.” This one may not do as well with Thaddeus’ behavior as they’re more on the docile/quiet side. However, I think Thaddeus may find some company with a fossil Pokemon that people just want to get their hands on for experiments and what not.

A Banette, one of the few Pokemon I can see being picked up by Thaddeus. While they’re a bit on the creepy end, this type of Pokemon is one created out of human-influence (mainly toys abandoned by children). Maybe the man has some pity to take in the Banette and has this presumably cursed doll running around with him!

Mareanie, another of the smalls in Thaddeus’ team! Small, toxic, and awkward, this Pokemon would be a nice comparison to Alolan Sandslash with their natural poison defense. They will be the type that wouldn’t much bother by Thaddeus’ habit since they to do their own thing. Thaddeus might accidentally get poisoned if they try to pet them! Mareanies can get easily spooked.

Wishiwashi is small but, can hold quite a punch! School form of Wishiwashi is something to be feared in Thaddeus’ team. really, it would be hilarious for him to be in his dragon form, hanging out with one [1] tiny fish. Anyways, the Pokemon usually looks like they’re in a constant state of crying and are really cute...

Hey there, old man! Let’s see what you’re getting!

Drampa! While I know it is quite on the nose to get the Generation 7 Pokemon considered to be a grandpa, I mainly chose them because of their pink (close enough to fuschia) eyes, ability to use mist (via breeding), and their enjoyment in communicating with others. Drampa is definitely the Pokemon that this Old Man could find reclining with him on his vacation days and be a great conversationalist when the kids are using Drampa as a jungle gym set.

Togepi! This is a bit different from what Old Man’s powers are, with thanks to his demon friend. Think of Togepi being the right partner to have helped him out when his trainer might’ve read someone’s emotions and gotten a bit too carried away. Togepis do contain the happiness they felt of their trainer and of others. If their trainer had rather distressed or reacted to such heavy emotions, a Togepi (and Togekiss) may counteract it and help soften the emotional impact.

Now, this is the Pokemon that’ll be used to and aid this Old Man when it comes to reading emotions: Gardevoir! Personally, I would also see Gardevoir being a Ralts too since a team either 1) smaller and/or 2) younger Pokemon seems to fit his personality nicer. Known as the empathy readers in th Pokemon world, they are able to sense every emotion of those around them (unlike Togepi). How this Pokemon may work with the Old Man may be along the lines of find comfort in someone else who has the same disposition as him. As well, as he promised himself not to use his powers, this is basically a loophole since he isn’t reading it (just his Pokemon).

Honestly, Mantyke serves as a way for better exploration throughout his travels in a calmer way. I don’t see Ian as much of a flyer (but that can be different to how he is canonically). I can just see him sitting in a kiddy pool with Mantyke resting on top of his lap or splashing water at his face to wake him up. It’s just really cute.

Nuzleaf is just a Pokemon I can see right along in Old Man’s posy. As the other Grass type on the team, this Pokemon can help play some music and can keep guard of his garden (or else there’s some trespassers who are bothering). Nuzleaf’s evolution will definitely fit into the current “old man” identity~.

What a wonderful Pokemon for the lifestyle that the elderly man has! Comfey is a Pokemon that collects flowers and uses their aromas to help calm people down! Since the Old Man already has a garden and enjoys gardening, this Pokemon will be a wonderful fit for him in his retirement. Comfey will comfortable hang around his neck and always match his shirt~!
