As part of celebration to mark the World Cancer Day, Project Pink Blue, recently conducte free screening for over 400 women in the FCT.
Project Pink Blue, is a cancer non-profit organization engaged in cancer awareness, provision of free cancer screenings, and fundraising for cancer patients.
The Executive Director, Runcie Chidebe, explained that the World Cancer Day is a global platform which is used to create awareness about Cancer, promote early detection. “Raise funds for cancer patients and to reduce the burden of cancer”.
He said that as part of activities to mark the day, the body organised a public awareness campaign, free screening and a 5 kilometre walk in the FCT, adding that people from the rural communities were also involved in the walk.
According to him, the challenges it currently faces is that most cancer patients under their care are very sick and needs money for proper treatment.
Runcie however noted that they are in collaboration with some International agencies, including the Ministry of Health to buy drugs they still lack funding to treat some of the cancer patients in their care.
He appealed to Nigerians to ensure they check themselves regularly, adding that screening is very good because it promotes early detection.
