He celebrates his birthday on Puerto Rico's most important holiday, Three Kings Day. I was not able to get it up in time for his birthday. But a few days later his sentence was commuted. The mural instead became a welcome home present in his hometown of San Sebastian. "El Regalo de Los Reyes" celebrates this freedom fighter, the artesania tradition of our nation and these magical astronomers who honored the birth of the planet's most celebrated revolutionary (Jesus). With Los tres Reyes constellation (orion' s belt) and our flag in nebula light it celebrates the universal pursuit of liberation. Also includes words from our beloved Julia de Burgos. It is an honor to have painted this, to have repatriated, to be here to witness Oscar's historic return home and to be here on this day, his first birthday home after 35 years as a political prisoner fighting for the freedom of his nation.
