GLOMAG MAY 2019 Someone Knows My Name (Iemand Ken My Naam) Chrome Dreams – Each liquid drowning night I continue to descend into startling revelatory chrome dreams where even each step becomes heavier as I continue to search for existential necessary answers to my elected existence which I have had no control of, Yet find myself waking up to begin another new day everyday where my steps become new imprints in this earthly confluence of mankind and nature existing side by side – Both in steady decline despite renewed efforts to sustain, preserve, protect, renew or regenerate, so I walk the same as the rest, hoping someone will know my name or even offer a warm smile to know I exist... The Taste of Dust – Despite my expected joyful exterior I blame myself for my chosen moments of uncontrollable melancholy born from social even religious guilt grown from accusatory sour sermons spoken by appointment mouthpieces who themselves transfer their own fears onto willing ears, not realising how their fiery words maim, deplete and delete our self-worth despite the forgiveness of our earthly sins so instead of peaceful dreams I sometimes experience the taste of dust during my nightly dream sequence canvass, where my preferred colour palette drips into nothingness and once again I pray that someone will know my name – Empty Faces – I know I am still here but things have changed people have changed this world is changing and I wonder if I will ever see again the wonder of mankind even though some are not that kind – Daily lives depend on verbal daggers piercing our brittle existence in this age of progress where emotions are frowned upon and only trophies of wealth will do but who do we trust if acts of goodwill are dismissed or when we find ourselves in desperate situations and no one stretches out a helping hand? Empty faces show no graces revealing no stifled confessions but I hold my head high and soldier on through this sea of despair hoping someone will remember my name... ©Don Beukes Photo Credit © Marcel Herms #ekphrasticpoetry #donbeukes #marcelherms #glomag https://www.instagram.com/p/By4zihNo2qS/?igshid=s2twgmg732b4

Live Visuals by diebenjidie Photos + Gifs by Mike Shirley-Donnelly
A compilation CD of some of my twisted, 1980s low budget horror film soundtrack music for horror, slasher, grindhouse fans everywhere.
glomag has a kickstarter for his latest project - a celebration of his OST work on various films! Check it out and donate if you can!
An 8-Bit Maestro Revisits His Grindhouse Past: The Kickstarter
Chris Burke, mostly known around these parts as one of the grandmasters of the New York chiptune scene, aka Glomag, as well as very good friend of Attract Mode, has a Kickstarter that’s very much worth everyone’s time and attention and money.
You see, early into his musical career, Chris composed the soundtracks for a number of low budget slasher flicks, many of which would become cult classics. Including Splatter University and The Toxic Avenger.
He figures it’s about time that such a body of work was collected and preserved, for future generations. He’s also correct. To help make Confessions Of An 80s Low Budget Horror Film Composer happen, Chris needs a bit of financial assistance. Largely due to the masters being on archaic formats, plus licensing agreements with the films’ directors.
That’s where the rewards come in. A few are definitely relevant to a video game culture blog like this one, such as cuts from the aforementioned scores, remixed via chiptunes. I recently got the chance to hear one, when Chris performed at HOPE the other weekend, and here’s a shocker: it was f*cking amazing.
By far the most intriguing incentive is a chance to appear in an upcoming music video, where you’ll run away from and be attacked by assorted deadly creatures. Though you won’t be in front of a camera, doing any acting yourself, cuz that’s Chris’s job. He’s going to import your likeness into LittleBigPlanet, which is how the video will be created.
Early into the pitch video, we hear of “weird stuff with game engines”; for years Chris and collaborator Tamara Yadao, as foci + loci, have utilized titles that allow for level editing, to produce live digital performances. Games like Halo, Minecraft, and yes, LBP. Point being: it’s a crazy idea that Chris is more than experienced with.
To lend your support, simply follow this link. Alas, there’s no reward to hear Chris share stories from his days on the set of the aforementioned Troma flicks, though if you give him enough beer money, I’m sure that can be arranged. And if you’re not local, just give me the money to get Chris drunk and I promise to record the entire thing.
Day 362 : Pocket Calculator by Glomag from 8-bit operators: The Music of Kraftwerk
Three days/three tracks left until the end of my year long experiment!
Performed on vintage 8-bit video game systems, you could file under "novelty". However the fact that this is released on Kraftwerk's US label and had some editorial oversight from Ralf Hutter lends it some credibility. All very clever, but I still prefer the original (and more fuller sounds).
